so… you want to know my secret?

if i could inject this liquid in my blood and permanently taste it i would. it took me a while to make it good enough, and honestly i’m still looking for ideas to perfect it (thinking of the browning sugar method rn…)
but for now, here’s the current one!!! (note that i make a big batch for about 4 big mugs. i have family members that are naturally greedy so i must. you can decrease the amounts of stuff to your liking!)
you’ll need:
- a big pot for milk tea making
- (1 & 1/2 tbs) powdered tea
- (2 tbs) sugar
- (400 g) a large can of evaporated milk
- (800 mL) boiled water
- a wee cinnamon stick
- 4 cardamoms
- 4 cloves
- (optional) milk tea seasoning mix! (it includes all blended cardamoms, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, creamer)
brewing part:
it’s all easy! take your pot and add in the tea, sugar and the cardamoms and cloves along with the cinnamon stick. if you have the seasoning mix, add it in too before filling your pot halfway through with hot water! (you can use room temp, but you’ll just be watching over the pot longer.)
mix everything and cover. put it over gentle fire for about 5 minutes. check in frequently so it don’t boil over! this is where all them flavors infuse and all :D once the water is bubbling up, add in the evaporated milk and stir, then cover again to let all the flavors talk together. :D
make sure you watch the pot! now that it’s very hot, it will boil over easily within 5 minutes give or take. keep an eye on it! it’s tradition that you only turn the heat off when it’s rising close to boiling over, though. a good time to practice your timing.
and it’s done!! make sure you use a strainer once you’re ready to pour the milk tea into your mug :3 tell me how it goes once y’all make it.

see, mom was a tea nut all the time I was a kid, so of course I had to go the other way. So I've never liked tea. *shrug*
