Most teenagers wake up late. I mean, who likes waking up early after staying up all night?
Among my friends, I'm the one with the most reasonable sleep schedule. Which says a lot of my friends, because I sleep at 1 am and wake up at 11pm or so. But I'm not here to judge anyone's sleep schedule, no.
A few years ago, I travelled to Mexico. I spent most time with my family (adults), so we followed to usual schedules there. My relatives there woke up REALLY early. And by that I meanI woke up at eight and everyone was already up. But I can't complain, because that way I already had the breakfast ready.
The thing is, they ate a lot! Enchiladas for breakfast was seen as normal. That's not bad per se, but it has a reason. We didn't have lunch until 4-5 pm or so. As a spaniard, that's kind of late. But it was normal there! And my favourite part is that people gathered to have breakfasts together. I went to one of those meetings, and had such a lovely time!
When I came back to Spain, one of my friends and I tried to do the same. We met at ten. But every place was closed, and we didn't want to go to a cafeteria (for some reason, we found it embarrassing back then, and there wasn't a Starbucks nearby). Now, to my current friendgroup, even suggesting meeting at twelve is considered heressy! And most places are very expensive anyway.
That's why a breakfast hang out is off limits. And I get why, because who can have food right after waking up? The idea would be just sitting at a terrace, with an iced coffee, with a nice weather and just... catch up. The plan wouldn't work if you're not into gossiping, though. To me, it sounds very appealing! But I guess that people near me don't think the same.
The world would be better if we woke up sooner, but that would be simply torturous.
