Fashion Doll Discovery 2: Kitten Catfe Purrista Girls

I wrote my first FDD entry like over a month ago, which is super embarrassing because I haven't updated it yet even though I fully wanted to post weekly. Why? My next entry was supposed to be on my top 10 Rainbow High dolls, but then my post auto-deleted and I lost all the info and then spacehey's images got taken down (??) etc, I gave up. Because giving up is easy! But this time I'll really try.

I didn't know what direction to take this blog series in, because while I originally wanted to post about fashion dolls like Bratz, Monster High, Rainbow High, and so on, I felt like I just had too much information, too much to say, and too much to write about, not to mention everybody already loves those lines and discussion around them is easy to find. This means I will take FDD in a new direction: I want to write about forgotten, possibly obscure, flash-in-the-pan toys that I wanted as a child but never got. There will still be fashion dolls, but now I'll write about collectibles nobody collected, and any weird toy stuff that I can think of that came from the last decade. Let's hope this goes better this time!

Kitten Catfe Purrista Girls

This is one of those toy lines that have an insane amount of dedication put into them for a really interesting and weird result. The concept was: fashionable cats. Then came the execs who said that unique unboxing experiences were all the rage with the kids at that time (2020). And also Starbucks was really big. So, now they were fashionable cats, that came out of real plastic coffee cups, had a water dissolving feature and were also blind boxes.

Let us open these toys with our MINDS. The lid of the cup turned upside down is a full-on molded cat bed. The bag of sugar (I think that's what it's supposed to be?) will give you the cat's outfit. A small container that looks like it should hold sauce for something actually holds the doll's shoes and an accessory like a bag or glasses. Then, the gimmick magic. You are supposed to put water in the cup, then the teabag. The teabag will dissolve (which isn't how a teabag is supposed to work, but go off), and reveal your MEOWABLE.

THESE ARE SO CUTE. oH my god. If u can't see the picture, they're very small plastic beads shaped like cats but very round and cute. They have huge eyes. They come in a bunch of different colors. I think they're just so unnecessary and useless but that's their charm. See: Anything Popmart has ever made. If this was the whole reveal, I'd be happy, and they did actually sell these separately, but they aren't the whole reveal. Here are the actual Purristas: Picture 4

They're so interesting, right?? And by interesting I mean... not great? They've got huge eyes and molded hair, and their clothes are plastic except for their skirts, which are fuzzy and a little ridiculous. If you had these, did you enjoy playing with them? I probably would have just stuck to my plush toys. Still, their packaging has stuck in my brain for years, so they were doing something right.

That's all I have to say about these toys, thank u for reading!
