dni lists are the stupidest things to walk the planet

(i don't know what to categorize this as so i just put it as 'spacehey', but im talking about dni lists all over the modern internet)

dni lists are genuinely so fucking pointless and honestly proves to me that the older internet i grew up with will be gone forever and i can never go back.

people tend to put things like "basic dni", "weird people", "creeps", etc. on their dni lists, but the thing is that what one person considers "weird" isn't the same as what another person considers "weird". "weird" is too vague! specify what you find weird before putting it in your stupid dni list.

and for "basic dni", that's still vague-ish too. what people think is "basic dni" differs from person to person. one person might consider a lesboy or bi lesbian as part of "basic dni", but another might not. another person may consider proshippers as part of "basic dni", but the next person might not.

dnis are a very new thing to the internet. back when i was young, while i wasn't on any social medias until i was around 11 or 12, i never saw a dni list ANYWHERE. nobody knew what they were because they weren't a thing, because the internet was different. "don't like, don't look" used to be common sense, but now people see it as a "proshipper dogwhistle" (which is just so fucking stupid... proship just means you don't want people to be harassed for what they like in FICTION. a dogwhistle is when a bigot uses phrases or words to describe and dehumanise minorities). and even when i WAS on social medias, i STILL didn't see dni lists until they got popular in like 2023

it just makes me really annoyed to see people with such long dni lists too. if you don't want someone to interact with you, just block them. fucking block them. EVERY social media has a blocking feature and nobody is stopping you from blocking somebody.
and even then, if you put "racists dni" or "homophobes dni" on there, a bigot WILL NOT listen to a dni list. they do not care. it's pointless; just block them.

you are in control of your own internet experience. dnis are useless. block things you don't like. don't like it, don't look at it. proship = anti-harassment and anti-censorship; not this "problematic ship" bullshit you see people regurgitate all the time.
