Last thing I want to sound like is ungrateful. I am appreciative of anyone and everyone who take the time to hear a song from me, watch a performance either live or on video.
And yes, even read these long-winded blogs.
Last week I posted a blog on my website, asking if anyone would be interested in hearing a 10-second rough guitar demo of a new song. Surprisingly, it received 12 likes and 0 dislikes. Hmmm...interesting. So true to my word, I posted the clip on my socials this past Monday, and saw some nice praise. However, it was on YouTube that things got peculiar.
Because it's under 60 seconds, it is consider a "short" (okay then). And within 48 hours, it has almost 1200 views?! Not many likes but that's okay. Was pleased to see that so many people took the time to check out this clip, whether someone knew me or not. It's nothing more than a pic of my Orange mini-head and cab along with a pic of me in the car. And this funky melodic guitar groove that sounds like the bastard child of Zep/Aerosmith/Living Colour.
And 1200 people saw it?!
That doesn't mean I am ready to rehearse and record. Nor do I think "Wow, 1200 people will buy my next album!" Both are the farthest from reality. My ship sailed a while back, and I get that. That's not to sound dour or fishing for anything, it's simple facts. I also let go of the need to impress people since last year. I'm more relaxed and confident as a guitarist, and people are noticing.
What's next then? Honestly, I have no clue. It's good to know that a silly little demo is making the rounds. I can live with that. I don't have any gigs until October 24 with Supernova, so I am in hiatus mode again.
