I've been living in Philadelphia for a few days and so far I wrote about in my most recent blog post about the flies in my apartment and the homeless guy that likes to block my stoop. Today I got to speak to the security from UPenn about the homeless man that likes to camp out on my stoop and I noticed that he was still over there so they went to talk to him. Apparently other people have complained about this man before (he also referred to as the homeless guy that stinks) my description of him apparently didn't really help but anyway they asked him to leave and they informed him that people live in those apartments and they need to get by and he did eventually leave. He's not violent just a mild inconvenience mostly. When I have my class that goes from 3:00 pm to 11:00 I will be sure to call them so I feel safe going to my apartment. University City seems a bit suspicious at night and some other woman in my culinary class said the same thing too.
I had my first class today which is the culinary techniques class. My chef is really nice and helpful he told me what my uniform was and wasn't since I brought things I didn't need and wore a dress shirt that I didn't need to wear and the proper apron. I noticed that I have a habit of overcooking some foods, I never done that before at home often but I feel like the pressure of it being a class has got to me. I do have to write down my recipes for next class so that should be exciting.
The key to my apartment I somehow lost it and that makes me upset I never lose stuff that quickly and that easily so I don't know where it went but the fee is $75.
So far I made one friend but I really need more Philly friends so if you're in Philly or around that area I would love to be friends so we can go thrifting, to concerts in Philly or Camden since I found out how close Camden is to Philly and to go out to eat.
I'm so happy my family is coming to see me (didn't think I would say that since I was yay no nagging mom or annoying dad bothering me) they can see the homeless guy situation I've been dealing with and bring me my nail clippers (my nails have gotten long and it's gross) and they bring me other stuff. Another thing I'm excited about is my bestie from HS who we haven't seen for 18 years is coming to visit me since she lives in PA and she can actually see me. I really missed her and I'm just looking forward to spending time with her. I want to show her what Philly has to offer and the best restaurants in the area. I want to take her out to this Ethiopian spot, and take her out to some other restaurants that was on my list for us to hit up.
I have leftover food from school I can take home and even pack up which I'm excited for. So maybe a broke college student can save money haha
Tomorrow I'm going to get the hairnet since I have really thick hair maybe I'll go get that tomorrow since that's something I have to purchase and maybe I'll get some cash by the time my friend gets there so we can go out to eat and have some food.
Speaking of food the famous 4th street cookies at the Reading Terminal Market is so good and they're some of the best cookies I've ever had. The Gumbo/cajun place is so good too!
