Rotterdam Zoo! (a small part of my Netherlands trip)

Good day my ladies, gentleman and enbys. I have come back yet again with another animal blog! (or trip blog?)

This time i have explored Blijdorp zoo!
so usually I tend to stay away from zoos, as they tend to be unethical and provide no real use to wildlife preservation etc.
but this one is actually does wildlife conservation!

they help with: population programs, scientific research, and most importantly, reintroducing native species to their natural habitat and sustaining the population!!

but alas ill stop my yapping for now, and share the photos I have taken!

I'd love to start with my absolute favorite picture taken. The prairie dogs.
Gosh I was STUCK in this enclosure. These little fellas won over my heart, they're the goofiest fucking animal ever!
(Can someone tell me why do they chronically t-pose for 10 minutes straight?)

Did you know that prairie dogs have one of the most descriptive/advanced vocabulary out of most animals? not only can they warn each other, communicate different messages, but even differentiate colors and tell for example, what color shirt a person approaching is wearing!

Now to move on, lets check out the feathery fellows of this zoo!
this will be more of a dump of all kinds of birds i saw, and honestly, i think that birds are the most beautiful animals of all, they just give cunt so hard like no other animal.

Say, did you know that flamingos are not only pink from the outside, but inside too? Something that's quite obvious, but i never actually thought about! the carotenoids that they receive from algae and crustaceans they eat, also impregnate the bird’s tissues, skin, blood and even egg yolk?

Alright, time for an random animal roulette.
(at the end of this, ill leave the funniest image of a penguin I've ever seen, an actual irl incel-guin) aha, the peng-cel !
Also, the behind of a deer you saw, is actually a vampire deer (actual name being Chinese water deer)! and gosh i was so surprised to see them, it felt surreal. even after finally seeing them with my own eyes, i cant believe its a real animal.
The whole reason they actually have fangs, is for mating rituals and fighting! normally antlers would be used for those purposes, but as you can see, they don't have those!

Lastly, i wanna show my haul that i got at the zoo to give it support.
(I always recommend doing this if you can, to support a good zoo that does conservation work!)
I decided to buy matching keychains (mine is the crocodile hehe) for me and my friends, and a sea lion necklace!

Little authors note:
If you got this far, thank you for reading my blog! Truly, I appreciate it, as i LOVE making these, its like my own public diary, that i can share with you guys, and hopefully even post something educating!
Let me know what was your favorite picture, as this trip has actually inspired me to buy a camera  (currently saving for one right now), I truly believe that wildlife photography is something i want to pursue,... at least as a hobby for now. I love animals, i love nature, and i love capturing memories, playing with composition and lighting is truly so fun, and editing too, its like mixing my two favorite worlds (nature and technology) into one!
So i truly hope to continue this. IF you have any beginner friendly camera recommendations, more suited for animal photography, I'd truly love to hear it. Educate me heh!

Anywho, have a good day or night, and stay wild.

Thank you so much for reading! And yeah they're sea lions! you can easily tell them apart from seals because they have tiny little ears!
I'm glad you liked the fun facts too! I'll try to keep more animal blogs coming!

Thanks for sharing this excerpt of your trip!! Beautiful pics and it's also so refreshing to see zoos that support wildlife instead of just exploiting it

ty sm, very sweet of you. I'll definitely be going to more zoos and sharing more photos haha! i just truly adole animals.

but yeah! i never support a zoo that just use animals for gain, i avoid them like the plague. Before going to a zoo i usually do research and make sure they do actual work. (also pro tip, if a zoo has an AZA or EAZA approval that means its generally a good zoo!)
