for a long time i've always thought about how niche the internet was during the 2000's and how it was a safe space for people with "unconventional" interests and how it got filled with the same people who would harass people for liking weird stuff, it would be nice to have social spaces advertized and targeted for nerds and geeks alike, like an umbrella for all the weird people who don't fit in or that are just tired of seeing the same uncultured annoying people who idolize white rice with white meat celebrities and that listen to pop music, let's migrate to image forums and obscure web sites... like spacehey! i like this place :)
a safe space for weirdos and nerds would be nice

to add to this, something that i've noticed is that a lot of "nerd culture", especially around pandemic time, became wildly popular and enjoyed by people who would be otherwise categorized as "normies", ykwim? this is something i feel, and it's something that i think resonates with others, in that there's this "fake" feeling attached to "normies" when they talk about nerd shit. it's this "hey, you ostracized me for this not that long ago. i'm the truly weird one here, not you, so stop pretending like you are one" kind of feeling. it's, as you said, invasive!

ongggg like, other social medias feels so violent cuz of miserable people who just hate to hate on stuff people enjoy and that makes me unhappy :(
