Hetalia Gangsta!!

I've seen a lot of people say they don't enjoy / understand Gangsta, having that opinion is fine ofc!! But I don't like / understand some of the criticisms people have of the AU manga and some of them come across as 'demanding' of what kind of content Himaruya should make.. which feels very ungrateful since he's kept this series alive for almost 2 decades now and has in the past given us fanservice content (2P, doing request sketches, etc.)

One point that I don't understand is the people saying they flat out don't understand Gangsta, or that it's "too confusing".. the premise seems simple to me, instead of countries that are spread far apart from each other, it's one big region divided into multiple "districts" that represent countries. The card game is played through differences in tourism, trading, money etc. and they wager their lives? I can understand some of the card's effects or whatever can be confusing but I also feel like that might be an issue on the fan translators ends (which im super grateful for that they're even translating it for free!!). It just comes down to people not properly reading the manga which is not a surprise given media literacy has gone down in the past few years LOL.

I also feel like some people judge the first volume as "the entire thing", with some people saying it's "boring" or that "nothing is going on". I think the idea of Veneziano having to keep up the act of being Romano (and vice versa) is a really fun thing and I'm wondering how it's gonna play out when more people besides Russia find out about this and how it's going to affect everything. We also got a lot of design's for the other Bosses and it looks like the other UK members are also getting a bit of a spotlight! I'm sure Himaruya didn't make these designs just for 2 manga panels and is planning on using them in other ways sometime later into the story. Also Prussia being more relevant as 'the old Boss' and helping out his brother is giving me the idea we'll get some backstory regarding that since it looks like Gangsta is actively following a story. His design is also my favorite which makes me a bit biased and hopeful for more content regarding him LOL.

The last little complaint I have isn't about Gangsta per se, but how people are saying Himaruya's current style looks like all the characters look like children which I feel like is a .. really weird exaggeration? I honestly adore the current style of Hetalia, it's much more expressive and dynamic, and I especially like how Himaruya is able to properly draw the body types of the more bigger characters like America, Russia and Germany. I feel like he can go all out with Gangsta in terms of composition and poses since it's much more than just short comics about a certain thing. 

I don't think the characters look like children at all, sure, some of them have a younger looking face. But I think people tend to forget they're supposed to look like their physical age. Yes, America will look younger because he's physically 19, Veneziano has a bit more of a cuter / baby face since he's 20 and has always been a really cute, positive character and his design reflects that. I adore Hetalia's old style too, it's really iconic and nostalgic and it has a very special place in my heart. But I'm happy to see Himaruya has improved and is able to give us even better content ^^
