ARG idea i had

so there was this rapper by the name of "slim wae" (real name julien chen) from around the mid 80s who was a member of this obscure group known as "mar-funk". they never achieved mainstream success but they were pretty good and considered ahead of their time in retrospectives. they first formed in 1984 but broke up abruptly in 1988 following slim wae's death.

the freaky thing that makes this ARG material though is that the name "slim wae" is for some reason now associated with other rap groups / labels / scenes that were formed significantly after his death. im talking from NWA and wu-tang that formed shortly after his death, into the 2000s with acts like three 6 mafia and swishahouse, even through the 2010s with bricksquad, odd future, and draingang. all the way up to the present day with opium and the modern underground scene with the likes of osamason and xaviersobased and nettspend

im sparing yall the nerd out where i just list every rap label / group i know of

nobody can agree on his actual affiliations - it depends on who you ask - but its generally accepted among fanbases that he was a prominent member of whatever group he was in and is only not in the limelight now because of a bitter falling out

mind you the only group he was actually in was mar-funk in the 80s

and it would probably break the whole "WHOOAAAOOOAAAAA an artist that doesnt actually exist like a ghost" but there could be like recovered recordings from various sources (dirty cassettes, almost melted vinyl singles, heavily compressed mp3s cut with malware) of him... like original works or a verse of his inserted into an existing song as if he was always there. there could also be supplementary media like photos and album art and shit (and maybe videos) (at which point i would probably have to get an actor)

the part that would make it really kick is that all the recordings would really sound like where theyre said to come from. like slim wae will really spit like he's from houston or memphis or atlanta or wherever. he'll rap about things appropriate for the time period and the production would sound right too

there'd be common themes in his verses though. something about memory or insinuating magic fuckery but never outright saying it

oo if i REALLY wanna get wild once i do it and get bored with the premise i can just turn around and say "oh some people think he was in paramore too" XD /j

so itd still be an ARG but i figured it could be a less scary one. like theres the overarching "is this being done by some evil magic" or parallel universe shit but its not like slim wae is the antichrist and your soul is gna be consumed by listening to his verse on poppin my collar

im ngl this would pretty much be creative exercises in writing and producing in all these different styles... so a love letter to hip-hop but it could be pretty good...

im retaining ownership over this idea for now but if any1 knows a good way to bring it to life thats not AI i would be down
