KILLING INSECTS / BUGS IS IMMORAL AND CRUEL

Before you start SCREAMING at me - I completely understand that some people have something called entomophobia / insectophobia and I completely respect you as a fellow human being and I understand why you may find bugs horrifying (I myself am extremely terrified of dogs for no reason - basically cynophobia)

I also understand why you may exterminate or deep clean your house if the bugs have caused relatively bad damages to either your physical and/or mental health.

If you are suffering from any of the above, realise that whatever I say beyond this point does not apply to you, and I highly recommend you should seek help in reducing your entomophobia symptons for a better mental health - also realise that I am not a doctor nor an expert in psychology.

I'll mostly be referring to insects like moths to keep it simple.

so I've been seeing a bunch of people just RUTHLESSLY killing bugs for no reason - like actually them just going into an abandoned building and just genociding a group of innocent moths or butterflies not harming anyone or any crops and I just think it's VERY IMMORAL to just basically SUFFOCATE these moths of which many species can feel physichal pain and emotional distress and that just sounds so CRUEL to do to those poor little guys for NO REASON LIKE THEY DID NOTHING TO YOU OR YOUR BITCHASS PLANTS OR WHATEVER. MAYBE YOU SHOULD WORRY MORE ABOUT YOUR DOG PISSING ON IT INSTEAD OF MURDERING A FELLOW LIVING AND FEELING SPECIES!

I also don't understand why there's like this fucking moral hierarchy for what animals are accepted and which ones to ruthlessly kill - innocent ants and stuff being the main negative targets. why is a fucking MOTH out of everything - something that the worst thing that they could do is eat a couple LEAVES OFF OF SOME PLANT 80 MILES AWAY FROM YOUR GARDEN be more of a PEST than a dog you can just RIP OFF YOUR ARM AND KILL YOU IF IT FEELS LIKE IT?!

I have NEVER seen a moth just randomly murder a human being, but for some reason they are more of a PEST of which society deems it's GOOD TO KILL THEM than a dog who can ACTUALLY KILL YOU?

If you see a moth or any other insect, maybe instead of ruthlessly killing it, you should take it as a sign to either clean up your fucking room, or, if it's clean and the moth just got in with luck, either let it find it's way out or bring it out by nudging it onto a pencil and just letting it outside.

also another thing to clear up is that ppl justify killing innocent animals by saying "OhOhOhOh they're gonna eat my clothes!!!" - that's mostly just a stereotype - while a lot of moth species do eat cloth, many of them don't, and live off of diets more similair to that of a regular butterfly. seeing an animal doesn't give you the moral highground to kill it and make it feel genuine pain.

as for them eating plants - I sorta get that, but seeing videos where you just have them all in a bucket is a bit too far - many of them are suffocating and dying a horrible death because your pussy got wet over some fucking tomatoes - maybe protect your crops better instead of killing bugs who are just trying to survive a world where humans are ruthlessly genociding them.

I may sound stupid to some of y'all, but I just want to get this shit out there cause I am tired of people using these excuses to be cruel to bugs instead of just letting them outside and live their life (do beware that while most insects can live outside, some cannot survive being outside, so maybe do a quick 5 second google search instead of killing them. speaking of killing, instead of just squishing them, which sometimes could fail and the bug dies a horrible painful death, just lock them in a ziplock bag and freeze them to death - it may *sound* cruel, but it is in fact really humane, as they don't die in pain)

anyways, enough ranting for today, just felt like leaving this out there for nobody to read nor care about - at least it was relieving being able to write this lmfao

As someone with a phobia of all insects and arachnids, I completely agree. Killing anything from a plant to a human being *for no reason* is just plain wrong. (I'm only guessing this is to those who find it fun to perhaps burn ants). I've always hated people who would step on snail shells 'for the fun of it', or step on ants intentionally as if it were fun.
It's cruel. Whether they feel it, or not.

And to add on the insects feeling pain bit, insects have very uncomplicated brains (when compared to that of a higher intelligence animal, such as a mammal), and cannot feel pain the same way we do. I'd imagine it be more of a slight warning 'not to do that again', or 'don't go near that', instead of a full blown alarm. (please note this isn't exactly all backed up by research and I may have no idea what I'm saying.)

I completely agree with you - and yes, while the pain isn't exactly the same, they're still in extreme distress and, in my opinion, it's still really cruel.
