blog #1 - ghostbusters 2 review-ish.

so i just rewatched ghostbusters 2 after like. years. and honestly i don't even know how to feel about it?? like when i was younger i thought it was just super goofy fun and i loved all the ghosts and loud nonsense, but now it kinda feels… weird? it's like, there's stuff i still really like, but it's got this sorta soggy energy, like everybody was just dragged back into the jumpsuits because someone waved money in their faces. but at the same time it's not awful, it's not like a total trainwreck, it's just sitting in this funny little middle place between charming and lazy.

i think i appreciate how unapologetically cheesy it is now, but back then i was just laughing (not really.) at all the little jokes without thinking twice. also, watching it again after growing up a bit makes you notice how much of it is basically recycling the first one, which is kinda lame, but i weirdly don't mind?? like if you're gonna be a sequel that doesn't live up to your older sibling, at least be the embarrassing little brother that's still fun to hang out with sometimes. so yeah, it's not great, but i can't bring myself to hate it either.
