Early morning entry [Diary-Blog]

Writing this entry at 8 am waiting for this volunteer event to start. It's so hot. So hot. Way too hot for 8 am. Florida summers are hell... I can't even practice photography because it fogs my lense over! >:'(

Either way, waking up at 6:30 on a Saturday is an interesting use of my time, but this event is pretty awesome since they drive you in a bus to your volunteer site. It takes out all the anxiety of planning it out and driving there yourself- plus I get to meet other people on campus. Even if they're the insane type of people that wake up at 6:30 to volunteer. Like me...

The site I chose is a group that works with people with disabilities to help make their lives more independent and enriched. I didn't know this when I signed up, but apparently this is the same group my uncle goes to! I've only met him a few times, but he's autistic and lives in assisted living. It'll be nice to be able to see one of the places that make his life better, and hopefully have a direct impact!

I had a really long day yesterday. So much happened, and I really gotta write a full entry on it. Maybe I'll just write here and see how much I can get down before the event starts.

So I only had two classes yesterday since my Environment 101 class is M-W, which was nice because I could get home a bit earlier to see how Ruby was handling being alone. She meowed a bit, but other than that she's coping alright. She's slowly getting out of her shell, and she even came up to my roommates last night unprompted! Of course, prior to that, I bribed her with a churu to make her more comfortable, but she's adapting so quickly! I'm very proud of her.

Oh yeah, so I tried to cook breakfast as usual and I freakin dropped it on the floor taking it back to my room. Soooo I gave up and ate out at my favorite bagel place instead. Can't say I didn't try....

My therapist cancelled on me because airlines are nightmares that don't respect peoples time, so I ended up just going shopping with my mom. Picked up my prescriptions, grabbed some stuffs at Target, and got a new collar for Ruby- this time I remembered to actually check out the tag. They were out of the plain small ones, so she now has a lady bug hanging from her collar. It is pretty cute...

After that I tried to drive over to one of my favorite restraunts, but theres this intersection where theres a stop sign for me but the traffic from the main road doesn't stop when turning in. I stopped at the stop sign, looked both ways to make sure I was in the clear, and started going -

And this car comes SWINGING around the corner at like 45 miles an hour. Lays on the horn as I skid to a stop. Scared the hell out of me, so I stop and let her go. I'm kind of shaken up, and she starts following my car. I pull into a space to park to catch my breath, and she rolls down the window and starts gesturing at me to do the same. I do, if not to just let her get it out and go away, and she starts yelling at me. Saying I didn't stop at the stop sign n' stuff. I tried to tell her I did, but obviously she was yelling and yelling people are irrational.

My mom wasn't having any of this - and she starts yelling back. The lady won't stop, so my mom is just yelling at her telling her that the conversation is over and to leave. I'm gonna be honest- I started crying. I'm horrible with yelling. The lady leaves after a minute, and I just kinda sat there in the car sobbing for like 10 minutes. Worst panic attack I've had in awhile.

I hate driving. I hate how dangerous it is and how on edge it makes people. I hate how people tailgate you and road rage and scream. It's so stressful for everyone involved.

I felt sick for awhile afterwards. Took me forever to collect myself- but eventually I went and parked in front of the restraunt. I felt better after I talked to the restraunt owner and ate a pita with mango juice. Honestly, mango juice makes everything better...

When I was at the pet store, there were these two cashiers at the checkout with these MASSIVE cups from the movie theatre. I asked them what movie they saw, and turns out they didn't watch anything. They went there just for this frozen butterbeer stuff.

I'm personally on a boycott of everything Harry Potter because I hate JK Rowling with all of my soul, but I know how much my roommate likes the books. So after I went to the grocery store, I stopped by there and bought a large butterbeer to split with the roomies. Turns out they're also showing some Ghibi movies, so I might head over there to watch Ponyo or that one about the Heron boy.

Honestly, the butterbeer was pretty good. And my roommates loved it. My mom came up to my dorm to say hi to my cat and ended up hanging out for awhile. My roommates really like her, probably because she treats us like actual autonomous adults and doesn't scold us for swearing like some parents somehow still do. [I don't get that, like, how are you gonna tell your full grown daughter she can't curse...] She works with law enforcement, so honestly she's probably just glad that we're a bunch of dweebs that like cats, knitting, and vulgar jokes instead of partying and getting into head on collisions.

Damn, it's been nearly a half hour. I'm sweating my balls off. I guess that's it for this entry. Post ya later, Spacehey!
