Yo Gabba Gabba! and it's effect on me as a kid (it's a good thing, dw)

idk if the show changed much with time (it stopped airing at like 2015 around here and i forgot about it's existence for a while so uh-) but i sure hope it didn't, bc thinking back, it molded many children's way of thinking/seeing things in an actually good way (as it should obvs lol but u get it)!!

i grew up being kinda positive despite knowing and perceiving the troubles that circle us, both as humanity as a whole and in my house/my family's social class and etc etc and going "oh, this didn't work out...... damn.... maybe next time it'll work, tho! i'll just try again, if anything" or "this is bad, but it's gonna get better" when something went wrong, but after a while, it just became natural of me; which means i never stopped to think on when i started to be like that about stuff

the idea of writting this blog entry - which came up originally as a bulletin, but anyways - and overall of this subject came by while i was playing some flash games just now, eventually stumbling across a Yo Gabba Gabba! game (Brobee's Dancey Dance Moves) and going "oh well, why not", which led me to a rabbit hole of wanting to play all YGG! flash games i could find. in the middle of all that, here's the main ones that made me think of how my manner to see stuff came from the show: Yo Gabba Gabba: Mini Arcade & Foofa's Happy Flower Garden (kinda) :P

the Mini Arcade one gave me the click bc i was playing it and getting all "great job!"s since it was meant for kids so it's meant to be easy, when i accidentally misclicked something and ended up losing a race game. what got me surprised was that instead of getting a "you failed!" or "you lose!" as expected, since it's usual to show up whenever you lose a game, one of the characters said smth like "oh, that's okay! maybe we can make it next time!" and the game gave me a "great job!" and moved on. i may have taken it a tad personally, but at the same time, it reminded me that the show was really like that; it teached that no matter what, mistakes happen and that's okay, just get up, dry your tears, try again and ask for help if you need it, and that's where i got my positivity from! :)

the Foofa game is mostly because it reinforced that feeling, tbh. i love her calm voice, and the game overall feels like a nice, warm hug, it's so soft and light and incredibly simple it seems to be made for when you don't wanna think much and just turn off your brain from any thoughts for a while without turning it off completely for you to fall asleep in the spot, just melt in a puddle for a moment

not to mention the way it teached about different parts of pop culture and music styles and reinforced that everyone's different and that's okay without forcing it down anyone's throat. i remember it having many celebrities from different areas, sports, TV, music, anything and anywhere, just being part of the fun, along with quite a few hip hop references, if i'm not wrong. i think there was a part of an episode where someone teached how to beatbox, even!!!

how about you, though? do you think Yo Gabba Gabba! or maybe a different show changed you positively in some way, be it at childhood or at any times of your life?? :)
