Perfectionism and an unlikely inspiration

OFF remastered was out on steam and switch, being an oldhead OFF fan 'course i purchased it on steam and jump in.
I liked it, it was OFF but more polished, the new fight system was enjoyable, but the new soundtrack didn't click with me
it felt... "polished," by itself it's good, not bad, but not ... OFF-esque.

the original OFF was crude, it was an indie project, the roughness was part of the charm.

It's inspiring me to just take the plunge in strange and fun fiction. I was too precious with Fulmar, my comic, that i took half a year (maybe even more) to "prepare," i was so hellbent on 'if this bit is realistic enough,' or if i'm using the right canvas size, or brushes or art style or this and that! while Mortis Ghost simply went on RPGmaker and declared this characters breathe smoke and walk on metal extracted from cows. Yet, with how OFF just seems like a clunky RPGmaker game, after 15+ years, the game is still in people's hearts.

There are so many instances i want to take this specific scene (no spoilers, but my friends call it an iconic one) out of the canon story, because it sounds "unrealistic." but i couldn't, wouldn't, because it's a fun scene! that's the fun with fiction!

i used to have fun with art but recently there has been a bout of perfectionism, driving me to that one "objectively" perfect art style, techniques, colors, etc. The big oh majesty the industry standards!
how did i get to that mindset? i asked myself,
my suspicion falls on my (alleged) last job, (allegedly) handling me like a workhorse in ways that was (allegedly) borderline illegal! (allegedly, allegedly, allegedly)
chasing that "industry standards" made me forget the fun of art. art is art, and it's fun, it's communication.
ah, (alleged) stolen wages, spilt milk, what can i do other than to stand back up on my feet by myself? that's what i did

of course i'd still ensure quality of my project but i wouldn't tear my hair over it.
it's my one man project and i will not let perfectionism sabotage the fun out of my comics.
