I wanna use blogs more so I'll do a little update on projects. First of all though, physical media is so nice, doesn't matter what it is, even CDs hit the spot. Being able to actually collect real things and gear is such a cool hobby, not only do you have real objects in your hands, but you can share them, things have real emotional meaning and worth, the process of using the media and setting it up is super relaxing in a way.
Of course spotify or steam or fl studio, drawing software, whatever, is super convenient. But setting up a fancy vinyl hifi system, playing on chunky consoles, using real instruments, or using cool pens is faaar better imo. Maybe from a quality standpoint things are more crude or rough, traditional drawings or physically produced music will have more mistakes and variation, but that's kinda the beauty of it. It makes everything more human, it adds personality, which we desperately need with all the clankers and suits synergizing media at a very scary speed lol
Getting back to vinyl records though, they are so cool omg, sadly all very expensive and I cry every time I buy anything related to it, but it's so involved, once you go down the rabbit hole you never stop. It's not just put needle on funny plate to make music. Tbf that's more audiophile territory if you care about it sounding good, but might as well, it keeps you busy and let's you come up with excuses to spend money on stuff you absolutely do not need lmao
And the iBook i mentioned 200 years ago is restored now, just waiting for the battery to come back from fixing and then I'll look into finishing a project I started a while ago to make modern websites work on ancient browsers. Discord on Mac OS 9 will become a thing... hopefully

I was sorta thinking about this a few months ago. I feel like computing got overcrowded by Internet-based function and now most computers and operating systems exist only to open a web browser. If we limited our exposure to the Internet (or if the Internet ever truly died) it'd be like the 90-00s where people use computers for actual production instead of endless consumption. Imagine digitizing your hand drawn art and then traveling to a print shop to get it in physical form instead of just uploading it to social media and letting it get forgotten. It would really prioritize the human charm over sheer quantity, which is exactly what we need in an era of ai slop. That's why I love talking to people who make crafts at fairs: they're already living that life.

Dedicated devices and media are just nice. It limits your options and thereby lessens choice paralysis.
I recently switched back from spotify to my ipod and I enjoy it so much. I listen through albums front to back way more, have way more knowledge about which songs are an on what album and what the general vibe is.
To this day, my lime green ipod mini I had when I was young is the visual representation of "music" in my brain.
