Clowny Casey's Guide to Clown Care- entry 1; Clown Species

Hello all!

Have you or a friend recently acquired a Clown? Don't know what to do or where to start? Fear not! I am here to help :0)

It's come to my attention that not a lot of people are very knowledgeable about the proper way to care for their clowns. And as someone who's adopted many, MANY clowns in their lifetime, I'm here to give you all of the tricks and tips of Clown Care to help ensure a very happy life for them.

If you've adopted your Clown from a Gag-estry they likely gave you all of the supplies you need, but if not, I'll also go over all of the Immedient and long-term necessities that you'll need based on your Clown's species

Yes, species. Not a lot of people know that there are differences in Clown breeds!!! That's why they aren't all the same and have different names. I suppose that this is a good place to start, so I'll briefly go over a few major clown species and what their traits are. If you're not sure what type of Clown you have, take it to your local humorist for a checkup. If not, you can wait until their clown markings come in, but I personally don't recommend doing that!

Ok, now- let's get into the different types of clowns there are

Circus Clown: Circus Clowns are by far the most common Clown you'll find out there. These guys are good for beginner/first time Clown owners, but honestly, they're still great for people like me who've had many clowns in their life.

Circus Clown's will usually develop their acts a little later than other types of clowns, mainly because these clown's work with a wide range talents and tricks. Unlike other clowns who've been bred for specific clown traits, these guys are jacks of all trades, so they take a bit longer to find the right one for them

Birthday Clowns: ALSO really good for beginners, as well as people with children! Birthday Clowns are one of the friendliest clown species out there. They usually develop act's earlier on, often involving things with balloons, probs, and sometimes magic.

It's important to help your birthday clown develop a Character! Not all clown's do this but it's rare for a Birthday Clown to not develop one as they grow. It's important to set boundaries and guide them earlier on, in case they become meaner spirited!

Rodeo-Clowns: Rodeo Clowns (sometimes considered a subgenre of Circus Clown's depending on where you live) are a very talented species. These guys are fairly popular in southern states but can flourish just fine anywhere else that isn't too cold! They often find their skills and act's fairly quick, but their markings and paint will take longer to develop

Rodeo-Clowns are good for.. well, rodeo's, farms, hearding, things like that. They're usually quite active and need LOTS of space. I would suggest only getting these guys if you're also skilled in things like bull riding, riding horses, lassos ect, mostly because although they'll likely pick these things up on their own, it's important for them to be safe and learn the correct ways to preform!

Killer Clown: Yes, these are a real thing! You WILL be able to tell if you have a killer clown more early on, believe me. These guys are.. er, aggressive to say the least. These aren't suitable for people just starting off with having clowns, and in some cases, they aren't safe with children

But fret not! There's no such things as a "bad clown". Killer Clowns (when trained and raised according to their needs!!!) can be wonderful guard clowns. They get really protective, and are semi-nocturnal, so they're great to keep you safe- though make sure you bond with them regularly, so they don't see you as a threat

Pierrot and Harlequin's/White clown and Auguste's: So contrary to popular belief's these four are fairly different from each other. While White Clown and Auguste's are technically descendance of Pierrot and Harlequinn's, they're still evolved differently SO their care does differentiate here and there

Pierrot and White Clown (sometimes called White Case or Sad Clown) are incredibly melancholy. and sometimes even more serious. While Pierrot's will be clingy, and shy, White Clown's behaviors can vary. Some are sillier and more prankish, while others keep their gloomy demeanors

Harlequinn's and Auguste Clowns are a stark different from their pairs. Both are immensely mischievous and outgoing. Sometimes Auguste clown's will develop a different sort of character, one that resembles their pairs- ones that are sadder or more withdrawn, which is ok IF this is the only clown you have. But as I told you all before, it's much better to get these guys in pairs in order to keep a sort of yin-yang balance. It can cause behavior problems if not.

Now there are many, many, MANY subspecies of clowns, too many to cover here. So, if you happen to have one, I didn't cover here, feel free to comment and ask, and I can go over it when I have time.

Stay tuned for more information and tips!
