Super random if you don't know the context but i have possible nerve pain.
"why?" you innocently ask, the thought of a past injury to the arm causing the damage crosses yur mind. but no, you'd be wrong.
The Possible damage was given to me by a nurse, while i was in hospital, suffering from a ruptured Ovarian cyst. you see, id been uncharacteristically tired and sluggish all the day before the rupture, i went to bed at 8 instead of my usual 10, and was awoken at 2AM in stabbimg almost burning pain.
However, i didnt leave for the hospital till 3, believing it was just my terrible stomach being stupid. when i was admitted to the ED i was immediatly accused of lying.
"It's period pain." not on my period
"obvulation pain." nope
I was sat in the cold waiting room with my poor mother next to a lady who was coming down off something but was sweeter than the damn nurses. When did they let me into the ED? when i threw up so bad they thought i had a bowel obstruction.
Here are some details for you, if anyone reads, the nurse was at no point in time "Kind and gentle." infact when he weighed me his first reaction was "Well boys dont normally like girls this thin." as if THAT was going to help in the situation [plus im a lesbian].
Once i was given a bed i was treated even worse. The medication i was given to help with my nausea turned out to be an unknown allergy i have, which they then refused to put on my file or tell us what the name was. When he was giving me the IV i was apologising for crying, becuase i'd been doing that for almost an hour and a half now plus the pain was so bad i was struggling to regulate my emotions, And he said, and I quote "Apologising gets you no where." before he missed my vein twice, grabbed a second, somehow meaner nurse [she appears later don't worry] to put in my iv, and then ignored me for 2 hours, missing 2 of my pain med times.
i managed to sleep, some how, slept till 6, woke up to the other nurse pushing more meds but doingit so fast it BURNED just like how the male nurse had, the pain was so bad i passed out.
Let me describe the pain for you. it stung at first, like any normally medication, and then it felt like lava travelling up the underside of my arm, them my armpit, then my ribs. and i felt this Every. time. they. pushed. meds.
Now, im alone for once, my mum went out to call my brother's school, my extended family, and to try and get me something to eat [i never got to eat]"We need a urinie sample." cool, i hadnt drunk anything since the day before and have thrown up 6 times but ill see what i can do seeing as i CAN'T WALK.
they were mad about that.
The lady nurse came in, said she was giving me fluids.
Me: Mind you i'm still crying because ovary reputures hurt and i didnt have answers. "What's that?"
Lady nurse: "water."
Me:"Thank you, Miss."
LN: *smug look* "You're welcome."
My arm went numb. the burning was so bad this time it went NUMB. Soon after she left my arm went bright red, itchy, and covered in hives. i was still alone, scared, in pain, alittle out of it, and then whatever diety was there sent me an angel, A sweet to the bone older nurse, Wearing disney scrubs and a sunflower lamyard, walked by.
Me: "Uh- Miss...? Is my arm meant to be burning and covered in bumps?"
Grandma Nurse "Sorry? oh no sweetheart, its not. what were you given?"
me: "The nurse with the purple scrubs said it was water."
GN: "ok sweetheart, ill go check with her, ok?'
a few miniutes later the Grandma Nurse came back, rushing to give me anti-hystamines and apple juice.
GN: Rubbing my forehead gently "Hey sweetie, you feeling ok? She gave you morphine. you had an allergic reaction, did you know you were allergic to morphine?"
yea. it wasn't fluids. she gave me morphine and left.
turns out, im allergic to morphine.
i thought i had no allergies!
anyways this angel of a women gave me some medical-Fentanal and sat with me till i fell back asleep, rubbing my arm softly the whole time.
that women was the ONLY good thing to happen.
Even when i was kicked from the bed and left of a wheel chair, she brought me apple juice because i couldn't have water or i'd throw it up, brought my poor mother a bottle of coke from the machine, and was just the sweetest person ever.
how does the possible nerve damage tie into all of this?
THE ARM PAIN NEVER WENT AWAY. it comes in waves, i can't move my right hand, my dominant hand, almost at all or ill be in anguishing pain.
ao, yea, Rural Australia Hospitals SUCK, but that angel of a nurse made it tolarble.
I wish i got her name.
