My 1st Visit to the North Sulawesi Provincial Library and Archives in 2025

My 1st visit to the North Sulawesi Provincial Library and Archives in 2025. Last time I visited there was in July 2023 to make a new membership there, it was my first visit since 2019. It's great to be able to visit and borrow books here again, even though the service has declined since 2019. But even so, I am grateful that their book collection is still relatively good especially the reference books, as in the past when I was little.

Of course, I read many books there, especially encyclopaedia books and those are from 1960s, lovely. I was a bit annoyed when I finished reading and wanted to return the books. Some civil servants there told me not to return the books and leave them on the table. When they aren't looking I return the thick books because I don't want them to misclassify them especially if I want to read them again later. I just left some thin books on the table.

I borrowed two books on my visit this time, loan period is one week, so I should return it on Wednesday, 25 June, 2025. Initially they said the loan period would only be three days but I insisted on one week, finally one week. Before I came again in 2023 the loan period was two weeks and I actually preferred that. Ah but that's okay, so every week I will go to the provincial library and read those old encyclopaedias. It's a lovely place actually and it should be like that.

Huh, in contrast to the Manado City Library and Archives, in here the service is bad but the collection is large. Sadly, many librarians who have known me since childhood have retired, they were real librarians. Anyway, guess which country map is on the page of the book behind me in the first photo (hint: historical sovereign state).

Taken on Wednesday, 18 June, 2025 from 15:14 to 16:26 with Samsung Galaxy A05 at Tikala Ares Sub-district, Tikala District, Manado, North Sulawesi, Indonesia.
