i always thought the problem was 2 main reasons:
1. social media is too accessible now,
2. it allows anonymity to the wrong people.
its really disappointing how things have turned out. i wish (especially for younger people) that it wasn't such a huge part of peoples lives.

I don't know about you dude but I use both old-ish social media platforms and modern ones.
my algorithm on TikTok sometimes lands me places I don't care for or like but it's still fun.
I don't really use Facebook, but when I do it's for looking at stuff on the Facebook market and talking to my mom using Messenger.
Twitter gets boring after a while but my algorithm is alright I mostly see stuff I like.
I rarely go on Reddit but when I do it's for help on the internet and css styles because Reddit's full of css userstyle nerds like me.
MySpace [or Spacehey.. that name makes me mad sorry lol] is fun I enjoy going on other's blogs and seeing what they have to say.
YouTube is honestly super entertaining, I've perfected my algorithm to things I like by liking videos, making playlists, and commenting and now it's super nice and I mostly get to see videos I likes.
I don't use Tumblr that much [Wow, a guy using Tumblr.. well that's new, eh? Yes, I promise you I'm NOT a 27 year old Communist!] but most of the posts I see are things I like, so I guess it's alright aha.
Overall, you just need to find the social platform that's best suited for YOU. Interact with posts and creators you like and click 'not interested' on posts you don't like and block creators you don't want content from, it's not the most helpful but it's honestly a better step towards perfecting your algorithm. Remember: your internet experience is yours!

I get it, but with some work, you can change your algorithm to only show you wholesome things, like blocking or hitting not interested on every problematic video, and liking and sharing the good ones to as many people as you can, also, save them.

I think a big cause of brain rot on social media is because parents give unrestricted internet access to their kids at a very, VERY young age. I saw someone giving an ipad with youtube (normal youtube, not yt kids) to their 1 year old.

i had to delete one of my blogs titled "i'd rather get punched in the face" and it was about me having to remove two of my teeth next week and basically me being scared beyond shitless. some two people popped up on my comments and started talking about "as someone who got punched in the face by a grown adult as a 14 yro..." and "get ur wisdom teeth removed then talk" so i just deleted that blog out of fear

Так а зачем пытаться их переубеждать, особенно когда заведомо знаешь что это бессмысленно?
