I just got a new phone and started bookmarking my favorite sites, and realized I hadn't visited heyspace in a long time. I also realize how much I'm starting to hate the current social media and that outside of X, meta, and google owned apps, there isn't much of an option. This has me really bummed out. Especially logging on here since literally NONE of my friend's and family that I invited ever created their own profile or even bothered to visit or check it out.
I refuse to download any meta apps on my new phone. I already have whattsapp, and I got it reluctantly. I only got it because my closest group of friends convinced me since a good friend of ours was in bad shape and dying of cancer and they wanted to be there for him and try to cheer him up a bit. He sadly passed away and I wouldn't feel right ditching everyone else if I left. I kinda feel the same about fb and messenger since most of my family is there, but I am tempted to just tell everyone to text or call me for important things or emergencies of course, just like before social media. I won't go as far as some as to totally wipe out my profiles and accounts though. I'm still gonna log in, (actually I'm always logged in, we all are always logged in) through my mobile browser or on the PC or laptop.
This constant logged in and everything in an instant really messes with me, and I'm sure most people. It's so easy to get distracted, even when you turn off notifications. That just kinda makes you check it even more frequently afraid you're gonna miss something. At least with me.
So, I pledge to myself to try to log on and off like before when it was totally normal and to viist and update my heyspace more often and hopefully connect with other people that are actually here since none of my friends and family are haha! futu
