OK SO I have a very close oomf. we have always been close and have always said ily platonically, petnamed each other platonically and other stuff. ok so NOW fast forwarddd we didn't talk for a while and now we r again and I have a gf now and UGHH I'm still ok with the platonic stuff but stuff we used to say other than that is just not ok anymore and idk how to tell him waaahhh </3 some1 give me advice on dis topic pls

just tell them. it sucks and its scary but theres nothing else you can do about it. ive been in your position a few times, usually they take it well.
my best friend (about 2.5 years in now ?) and i are much like this. tell him i love him every few days, call him my love, etc, but if he ever told me he wasn't comfortable with it because he has a partner i would very happily change my language to make sure i'm not crossing his boundaries. i imagine the same would be said if i asked him to stop.
if they're a good friend they'll understand.
