also i completely understand not agreeing with the statement that practice is everything. i saw people practice and practice "without making much progress" and ive seen people just stop doing art for a while and come back improved even tho they didnt practice. both happened to me to. maybe you just need a break from art. you wouldnt tell a burned-out overworked student that they need to study more in order to improve, right? so just take your time and make time for yourself ik its easier said than done but thats all i can say for now

although i think that practice makes at least some difference i dont think you have to beat yourself up because you arent seeing as much difference and progress as others are. i also never saw much progress a few years ago and even tho i do now, i still dont think its super good and the point is you dont even have to. no matter how much you admire your favourite artists, theyre not perfect either. there have been numerous times where i would see something bad in my art that others didnt see and vice versa. all i want you to know is that you have the right to take your time and that the main point of art all along was self expression, the rest was history (and made up rules) so what im trying to say is that you should do art for yourself and yourself only. think you could improve your art? try and if it doesnt work remind yourself that everything comes and improves at some point in your life, maybe you just dont see it. you dont wanna improve your art? absolutely understandable. art is VERY subjective so the concept of improving in it is too. just dont beat yourself up, okay? hope i made at least some sense
