Alternative Music: Music that is outside of a vastly different than the mainstream (i.e. commercial rock and pop)
sixwing 𝄞 bandcamp

Salvia Hunden, more popularly known under the aliases of "sixwing" and "Mailpup" is an electronic artist from Seattle, WA. Her music touches on all sorts of topics, with the stuff made under the sixwing alias having a common theme of past trauma and her experiences as a transwoman in today's circumstances. Meanwhile her other project, Mailpup focuses on "2000s furry internet nostalgia" and focuses more on a hardcore rave-y sound reminiscent of mid 2000s Lapfox Trax.
Strawberry Switchblade 𝄞 bandcamp

Jill Bryson and Rose McDowall make up the Scottish new wave/synthpop group known as Strawberry Switchblade. Though this group is known more popularly as being made up of the Bryson/McDowall duo, they started out as a four piece group with the additions of Janice Goodlett and Carole McGowan back in 1981. However when signed to Warner Music group, the decision to reduce Strawberry Switchblade into the more well known duo. Said duo would then go on to release simultaneously poppy- as well as moody, melancholic songs touching on things such as anxiety and agoraphobia. All backed by very recognizably 80s instrumentals.
Picture Me Broken 𝄞 bandcamp

While not an entirely female band, Picture Me Broken is fronted by vocalist and keyboardist Layla Brooklyn Allman. Joined by fellow bandmates in Redwood City, California circa 2005, Picture Me Broken was formed. Said group's music follows the typical post-hardcore/emo-esque genre and themes of the time- with powerful and more than stunning vocals from Allman.

p.s. in no way am i dogging on the groups mentioned in the title of this blog- in fact i enjoy and very much respect their work! i simply wanted to shed light on "lesser known" artists across the vast thing that is the alternative "genre"
