Disclaimer: Maybe you are familiar with another blog post from me, but this job and the "other job" are not the ones I quit.
I've been offered two different contracts last week. Which I was very excited about. Because the contract renewal in my old workplace only guaranteed 2 months of stable income, I decided to leave my old workplace and start somewhere new.
The job is only part time, I get to supervise and work with children on their extracurricular activities. My first day has been rough. Although I already have experience in that line of work and thought of myself to be capable of working with loads of different people/students, my first day humbled me.
I see so much potential in those children and am very excited to work with them. Nevertheless, I am also met with a lot of new circumstances and existing structures I need to adapt to.
Unfortunately, familiarising myself with all of it on top of my students takes time. In the meanwhile, I need to build a whole new foundation with whole new people to create new and enjoyable experiences for my students.
All of this makes my job feel vastly different from the job I had before. Unlike before, I am no longer teaching, this job requires a different set of skills. On top of that, I need to rethink my approach completely because I need to fulfil different needs and wants.
I need to learn new techniques, work with media of wich I am not the biggest fan of and don't have a lot of experiences with. My best guess is not to doubt myself too much but simply trying to adapt while critically rethinking my approach.
Working with people always creates new experiences, but this job feels like a whole new beginning. I am very excited and can't wait to see how it all turns out. I'm keeping you updated.
If you have any thoughts, kindly let me know.
Yours truly.
