monster high g3 core refresh opinions

so.. since i reviewed the newest core refresh dolls for the main ghouls, i figured it would be fun to do these dolls! so sorry that its taken me a while to do this but ive been so busy with work and ive had no time to do what i like :,D but im here now ready to give my opinions on the core refresh dolls! so lets get into it!

starting off with my favorite ghoul, draculaura! i think this is one of her best dolls and it works so well with her g3 character. this was one of my first g3 dolls and when i saw her first i was over the moon over her design and her doll is even better in person.

the entire look of the doll is very tumblr nu goth (and although some people dont exactly like that style im personally a fan), i think it fits into the witchy vampire vibe g3 draculaura has going on and it compliments her character super well! she keeps her split hair but its in pigtails which are obviously gorgeous as who doesn't love draculaura in her pigtails? the coffin earrings being pink and black also make them stand out since they're mixmatching with the hair dye. the sunhat with the spider web detailing is also something that works really well with her character. it shades her from the sun since shes a vampire and also gives off a witchy vibe to her! her makeup is also to die for, giving draculaura darker makeup makes her look good and is also a callback to her og g1 basic doll which im a big fan of.

moving onto her outfit, her shirt is pretty simple but it being paired with the black poofy sleeves make her look so good and having her collar (if thats what it is) being white also breaks up the abundance of pink and black and makes her more appealing to look at. her skirt also having spiderwebs pattern (like her hat) is a nice touch, the design of her skirt is also really pretty and i wish they would have done something similar to the new core refresh clawdeen since i think it could have looked good on her too. her having regular fishnet stockings seems to be another callback to her original g1 design but i also think it works super well with the look that she has going on. her boots are also really nice since they have some cute painted details on them like adding back and some silver (which i love when they paint more details on the shoes!!). 

this also isnt part of her outfit but i also wanna take a moment to compliment her backpack, its a regular backpack but it has these cute bat wings attached to them and just like her skirt and hat has spiderwebs on them, and her little bat pin? love it. the backpack compliments her design so well and this doll just seems to consistent when it comes to her design.

this doll is a huge upgrade from core draculaura, which is why seeing the core refresh 2 draculaura was so... disappointing. coming from this gorgeous doll with the beautiful details which give off 'gothic vampire who is also a little witchy' to a doll with none of that incorporated into her design was just sad. but this doll, i love her and shes one of my prettiest dolls in my collection and she is liked by the majority of the fanbase, which makes sense! i personally give this doll a 10/10!

like ive said before, clawdeen in g3 has had some hit or miss dolls, some are gorgeous, some are a hot mess. this doll is a hit for me! although i do not personally own this doll i wouldn't be against to having her to complete my collection since i actually love this design!

the vibe that i personally get from this doll is that clawdeen seems to be settling into monster high and has adopted a more mature look and is embracing the fact that she is attending monster high and her werewolf side, im not exactly sure how to shorten that into something but that's at least what im getting from this doll! starting off, her hair is darker (unlike her core doll) and has purple highlights, her hair is loose and wavy which is cute! it's simple but i think for clawdeen it works just fine! her earrings are also something im a fan of, simple gold earrings and then a crescent moon which hint to the fact she is indeed a werewolf. her makeup is something im also a huge fan of, i think maybe her lipstick color could have been darker but i think paired with the eyeshadow she has it also works very well and i think the purple is a very cool color and she pulls it off well!

for her outfit, she wears a basic black shirt with purple scratch marks which i think compliments her character, it's simple but not too simple and shows something about her. scratch marks, werewolf, she is a werewolf. i like that she has a jacket in this design and although im not too big of a fan of the poofy sleeves, they don't exactly ruin the design and it's not something that i HATE! something that im a big fan of is the patches on her jacket, they represent her and are consistent with the design details she has going on.

the crescent moon is to show werewolves connection to moons and she also happens to wear a crescent moon on one of her earrings

the purple wolf paw, once again, shows that she is a werewolf and purple is her color!

the purple heart with the black scratch marks, similar to her shirt shows that since she is a werewolf she has claws

and her monster high logo, the school shes enrolled in and that lets her embrace herself!

her pants having animal prints is something i like, although i feel like maybe they could have been a different color to not make her design not super purple, i still think that it's good on the eyes, her gold belt and her necklace are also a nice touch to keep the gold in the design. and although her shoes lack some detailing and the bright blue feels a bit out of place i still think the shoes fit the design super well.

overall, i think this design is also another upgrade from the core doll, and although there could be more improvements i think what they were going with clawdeen in this design is a good step. she looks more older and more mature here (unlike the majority of her other dolls ngl) which i think is good since the core refresh dolls seem to be the dolls getting older and trying out new things with their outfits. i really do adore this clawdeen doll and i totally want her someday so she can be with my other core refresh dolls and i would personally give her a 9.3/10.

this frankie stein doll is probably one of their most prettiest dolls, at least in my opinions. frankie in g3 eats like the majority of the time and this doll is one of them!

i love whatever vibe frankie has going on, i don't know what they were going for but it seems like they were aiming for edgier themes but keeping their mix matched themes, maybe stitched up?

their hair is gorgeous, im a big fan of frankie with pink on them, their hair is mostly white and i love that some of the blue compliments the white and then the black streaks come on in to add something darker- i think that this hair combination is just pure perfection and frankie pulls it off so well. their hair clips being a yellow that isn't too bright but bright enough to stand out and a lighter blue also looks so good on them. their makeup is also something that i'm a big fan, i love the slightly darker blue and the lipstick is gorgeous on them.

their entire outfit being a bunch of patterns and colors put together fits frankie and their theme, their a frankenstein, and their fashion really shows that! their shirt is pink with black bolts and although that shirt doesnt have any other pattern, its a good base since their black jacket has stiched in green patches which are an awesome design choice. their shorts is probably one of my favorite things about this doll. they're regular shorts but on the other side they're black and white stripes. this personally appeals to me since im just a fan of stripes incorporated into designs but i just love the way that they pull off the shorts, on one leg they have fishnet leggings which is nice for their asymmetry. their black boots have some pink on them which i think its nice, but i feel like more details could have been painted on..

im a huge fan of this doll, just like clawdeen i don't have them but one day i would like to have them so they can be with my other core refresh dolls, but anyways i give this doll a 9.8/10

this cleo is probably one of the prettiest g3 dolls like ever.. everything about this doll is ethereal and i can't even begin to put into words just how gorgeous she is. she def stands out in my collection for being super gorgeous!

starting off with her hair, its a gorgeous blue in a high ponytail with some gold and tinsels in it. ive always been a big fan of the color scheme gold and blue and this cleo is a perfect example of the color scheme being used perfectly. her hair pins being a snake and some blue crystals are so perfect for her character, her gold earrings are also so creative. don't even get me STARTED on her makeup, her eyeliner is gorgeous, the bright blue eyeshadow being complimented by the gold, her makeup also brings attention to her bright eyes which also have some gold complimenting them. her blue lipstick with the gold streak is iconic, her face is just gorgeous and i could sit here and glaze it all day.

moving onto her outfit, her gold top with big poofy sleeves are a nice addition, and her having wraps around the sleeves and having them hang down are so nice. her skirt having gold detailings is such a nice addition to her design and then her blue wrapping around it? bringing back lighter blue into the design is so nice and brings the outfit together. her having a snake wrapping around her leg is a nice addition and makes her look even better because why wouldn't cleo have a gold snake around her leg? (her leg being also wrapped in bandages too!) her shoes have some gorgeous details, the heels also being bottles is so iconic, and to wrap it up, a blue scarab on the shoes is the cherry ontop of this amazing design.

complimenting her accessories should also be a given here! her carrying her heart in a pretty jar is such a fun detail. and then her backpack being super elegant and just like draculauras she has a cute charm of the ankh is a nice touch.

its pretty clear that i love this doll, i loved her when she first came out and bought her when i had the chance. this cleo is doll is basically THE cleo doll and i don't think we could ever get a cleo doll that is better than this. its clear that this doll gets a 10/10 from me!

and lastly, we have lagoona! i actually think that this is one of lagoonas best dolls, i personally think it was the biggest upgrade compared to her core doll and this doll in general- just looks so precious.

she has her long flowy hair, she has her adorable space buns and has long tusks of hair flowing down. her makeup is really simple but really cute, somehow the orange lipgloss works with the rest of her makeup! i personally really love her fish earrings and would totally wear them in real life if i had the chance!

her outfit seems a bit out there for lagoona, usually she wears more sporty attire but i actually think she looks gorgeous in this outfit and it fits her so well. she wears this fishnet top that is paired with this pink top that has an anime of a fish bone dripping, i originally didn't think of this first but i remember seeing a comment of someone saying that this outfit seems more like burried treasure and honestly i kinda see it! her iconic seahorse necklace makes a return just like in her g1 basic doll which i find to be nice. her pants are certaintly unique, she has these shorts then fishnets which connect them to these mesh designs and although this was a really brave choice, i honestly think it suits her, the pink in the outfit also compliments the outfit super well (like her belt and the pink straps in her pants). her shoes seem to be also a brave design choice to give to her but since you don't really see much of the shoes except for the pink i don't really have much issues with them? yes they look a bit weird and seem a tad random, somehow lagoona manages to pull off the outfit which makes her one of my favorite dolls!

taking another moment to compliment her accessories, i think her backpack is probably one of the best ones that the ghouls have. i love the clear jellyfish black with the charm of the skeletal fish, also neptuna looks so cute..!!

this core refresh of lagoona is one of my favorite, this doll made me a fan of g3 lagoona since i did not like the original core doll for lagoona but seeing what they could do with her and they made her look so good made me a fan of her! i give this doll a 9.8/10!

my final thoughts on these dolls is that, i think they're a huge upgrade from the core dolls and they were a huge step for the monster high design team, it showed that they were getting better with the dolls and it really showed that g3 can produce high quality dolls with awesome design choices. i think that these dolls showed to fans that although g3 wasn't g1, that doesn't mean that they're any less. sure, g3 doesn't always have the best dolls sometimes but thats just how it is! i love these dolls with my entire heart and im so happy that i own 3/5 of them!

my apologies if this review/ opinion piece wasn't that interesting of a read, i just have a lot of positive things to say about them so i tend to repeat a lot for the same dolls but i still found it nice to talk about these dolls that i love so much! of course, i'd love to know your personal opinions about these dolls and i can also review the other dolls in this line like spectra, venus, deuce, nefera, etc etc if you guys are interested! please feel free to let me know if you wanna see ramble about other lines! :)
