Painting + Poem :)

Tried a new hair-rendering method! I'm really happy with it :D

I yearn to draw/paint in a simpler style since I feel like I've mostly been going for complicated realism stuff. I've been seeing a bunch of videos and animations with gorgeous and creative artstyles and I really wanna be a part of that. 

And I feel like I'm moving in the right direction! (*^▽^*)

This is a nixe btw (german version of a siren), I wanted to stay true to the original depictions so forgive me if she looks a little bland.

Translated version of the poem for the non-german speakers :)

I look out to sea

and mourn for her so.

I long for the pride she brings

and how sweetly for me she sings.

Forced to silence long ago,

only a hum has risen through.

I look out to sea

and listen for more.

So she may return once again.

It's about how a lot of german culture (including my own) has been erased or forgotten and my longing to find and reclaim it.
