The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Kalasey Satu Village, Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. This is their first kingdom hall in North Sulawesi. In Indonesian language, "kingdom hall" is translated literally as "balai kerajaan" as you can see in this photo. For those of you who don't know what a kingdom hall is, this is the term used by Jehovah's Witnesses as their place of worship. They don't want to refer their place of worship as "church" like the other Christian denominations because "church" in their understanding is congregation of people rather than a structure. I don't know since when they were in North Sulawesi, maybe around the mid-2010s. In Indonesia itself, they have existed since the 1930s when Indonesia was still a Dutch colony. They were ever banned from 1976 until 2001 because they refused to salute the flag and to get into politics. They are quite friendly actually. The last time I met them was in 2022 or 2023 they were giving me books about them. Not really interesting, sorry. Please distinguish them from Mormons, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They are two different Christian denominations. The similarities between these two denominations are that they are both nontrinitarian and restorationist. But even so, academically they can still be considered part of Christianity in general, even if mainstream Christianity does not want to consider them part of Christianity. Remember that I'm not a Christian and will never be a Christian. I just want to share with you about this church. This photo was taken on Friday, 16 May, 2025 at 13:11 with Samsung Galaxy A05s.
