my roadtrip to MCR seattle

hi internet. its been a bit. and by "a bit", i mean a whole-ass month LOL.\

anyways. since the last time yall heard from me, a lot has happened.

on july 10th, me, my dad, and my sister began the EPIC roadtrip to Seattle for MCR!!! we drove 12 hours from [REDACTED, IM NOT DOXXING MYSELF], AB, to Abbotsford, BC. normally it would've been like 9 hours but we stopped for breakfast at a cute little diner in Golden, got lunch at a Save-On-Foods in Vernon, refilled our gas and had a bathroom break at a seven-eleven (msi reference?!) in Hope, and got stuck on the Trans-Canada Highway for an extra 40 minutes because someone crashed their motorcycle. when we finally got to our hotel in Abbotsford, we took a break, went to Whitespot for dinner (i fucking love whitespot, they closed all the ones in Alberta so whenever we go to BC we have to eat there), drove past the Abbotsford Centre because the Abbotsford Canucks won the Calder Cup, and then went to the hotel pool. after that we went to bed and i slept like shit.

AND THEN IT WAS JULY 11TH! AKA MCR DAY!1!

we got up early and got dressed so we could cross the border. our hotel was less than 10 minutes from the border so it was quick. the actual process wasn't too bad. since we're Canadians, they didn't have to check our phones (thank fuck), and they just asked us where we live, where we're going, why we're going and how long we're staying. they had to scan my sister's passport a bajillion times to get it to work for some reason. 

when you cross into the States via Abbotsford, you wind up in this tiny town named Sumas with a fuckton of American flags. it was a bit of a culture shock. but after that, we hit Washington State Route 9, and then it was 2 hours of driving to get to Seattle.

to waste some time, we visited the Woodland Park Zoo, which was fun. we had lunch there, too. i saw 3 other people in MCR shirts (i was only brave enough to compliment one of them but they complimented me too because i already had my concert outfit on LOL), and an employee called out to me like "ARE YOU GOING TO THE SHOW TONIGHT?" and when i said yes she said she was jealous XD. 

after that, we drove to the kurt cobain memorial bench, and we took a thousand wrong turns along the way and i lowkey had a mental breakdown but eventually i was fine. also we somehow ended up at a nude beach while attempting to find somewhere to park LMAOOOO

after that, we found parking that was like a 15 minute walk from the stadium, and walked to a smoothie store so we could get drinks and i could do my makeup and my sister could put on her concert outfit. there were lots of people in MCR shirts there too!!!

we went for a walk on the boardwalk before getting to the stadium 2 minutes before doors. eventually, we reached our seats.

the rest of the night was the best night of my life.

ALSO, my dad, who loves the violent femmes, originally planned on waiting outside for the show. BUT THEN HE GOT A TICKET FOR 40 FUCKING DOLLARS NEAR THE FRONT OF SECTION 318. HE WAS STILL IN THE NOSEBLEEDS BUT HE WAS WAY CLOSER TO THE STAGE THAN ME AND MY SISTER (FOR REFERENCE WE WERE IN SECTION 340 ROW 21).

after that, we met up again, made it through a shit ton of crowds, and got back to our car. we drove 2 hours back to Abbotsford and we got back at like 2:30AM. totally worth it.

the next day, we drove to Vancouver (aka my birthplace!) to get lunch. that night, we would be staying in Vernon. i then found out the place we were supposed to be staying at allegedly had roaches. so my dad booked us a different hotel thank FUCK. 

then we drove to Vernon. by the time we got there, all the restaurants were closed (it was only like 8:30PM. why the fuck was denny's closed that early on a saturday) so we went to Whitespot again.

the next day, we finished our drive home! and then approximately 8 minutes from home i found out Arturs Silovs got traded and i screamed and my dad thought i was dying or something. it was a valid crashout. that man carried us to the Calder Cup and we send him to fucking PITTSBURGH???????

all in all, a pretty epic roadtrip. i will add photos when i'm on my phone cuz i'm on my pc right now. see ya later internet losers
