Oké so I was in Norway and found a moose jaw bone… SUPER cool i know. It was totally flesh free (gross I also know) and had been bleached by the sun on one side. There was a small plant growing out of it and I pulled that out, brushed the remaining teeth and tried washing it a bit. BUT THERE IS STILL dirt in that god damn bone. I thing it’s in the holes where there was marrow or something but I don’t know how to get it out. HELP ME
Ps I’m sorry for how I tagged this but there isn’t really a bones category

its best to put in a bleach-like solution i think. BUT you have to be very careful with the chemicals you use or you could damage the bones (i learned this the hard way when i found the skull of a deer - its totally clean now but the bone is so brittle it flakes off at the slightest touch). Make sure to do some research beforehand, you definitely don't want to damage a cool specimen like this :)
Wow sorry to hear about ur deer skull but thank u smm! I will definitely try this and I’ll watch out for heavy chemicals

Not sure if this will help since I never tried it on animal bones:
try soaking it in warm or soapy water for a couple of hours and switch the water every now and then.
also try using hydrogen peroxide if this works since it'll help whiten the bone and make it look better!
Kay this sounds less risky so I’ll try this first. I do need to use a bathtub or something this things huge :0
For bleaching I will try hydrogen peroxide if the sun won’t do it for me (it’s pretty dark on one side)
