Thrift rant

Thrift stores need to stop accepting fast fashion. It creates a vicious cycle where something becomes trendy, it's not trendy anymore, people donate it, then something becomes trendy again and so on and so forth

Then the thrift store overcharges and the clothes stay in the the thrift store for way too long and takes up space, not even to mention that the demographic who buy fast fashion don't even thrift. They buy things brand new, and the demographic that thrift don't even bat these fast fashion items an eye because they're either overpriced or not their style.

And I know people mean well but I think the blame goes on the fast fashion site, the store, and the person but mainly the fast fashion site. They Know that 70% of their stock is gonna end up in a landfill or a thrift store and knowingly push their often mistreated workers to overproduce items that are NOT gonna end up in consumer hands and use plastic fibers that will irritate skin and won't decompose

And thrift stores prey on that fact and mark up prices.

That's my rant, sorryyy

Stuff that doesn’t get bought in the thrift stores are usually sent over seas to Asia. And it’s not like thrift stores are going to say “no I can’t accept your donation” unless they’re a thrift boutique.

Dude I have literally no idea what you're talking about but it's so fun seeing people rant passionately about things completely outside of my interest. Like y'know what?? Yeah that IS bullshit!!!! /pos

Ugh I agree, and am so sick of everything in thrift being over saturated with fast fashion from the past five years, all unwearable. Same with vintage sites like depop, and reselling in general for obscene prices.
One of my main issues too, is that so much is fast fashion fills up the un-curated thrift stores, and it becomes really hard to find quality vintage for a good price, since they're all in the curated consignment places for $100 a Tshirt. AND NOW I'M SEEING AI ART ON GRAPHIC TSHIRTS ! It sucks :/ I'm hoping enough people are starting to become sick of it, brads will realize, and start making pre-2010 quality clothes again. We can only hope :(
