just did some dishes and felt like complaining about my diswahser... so here I am complaining about all kinds of modern technology things ;0
1. Dishwasher has no buttons
- well it does have buttons, but those buttons are absolutely stupid. It's designed to look all sleep and moern, so the buttons are on the top of the door and you can only use them when the door is OPEN!!! To turn the stupid thing on you have to open the door, hold the start "button" until the beep (did i mention the buttons are these horrible touch sensor things that barely register inputs?), close the thing, and hopefully you win the coin flip on if it wants to run or not.
2. Microwave has no number pad
- this one is less frustrating than the dishwasher, but still annoying. There isnt any simple number buttons on the microwave to input the time. There is a plus and a minus button where you add 10 seconds at a time to count up the time... AND ALSO when you go to take your food out you cant just open it, that would be to easy. You have to unlock the microwave door with a button. A button that also makes a beeping sound, so i can be sure that everyone in the house wakes up when my fatass wants some leftovers in the middle of the night.
3. Ring Doorbell
- The previous owners of this house left their ring doorbell, so whenever someone comes up to the door they hit the non-functioning ring doorbell instead of the actual doorbell the house was built with. Also doesn't help that the thing is impossible to remove.
4. AI everything
- Surprised i didnt bring this up sooner. I wasn't going to talk about this here but then i ran out of things to say... Literally feels like everything has AI now. Even my college professors seem to have no issue with the use of it in assignments as long as you tell them you used it. My compsci professor is OBSESSED with it, every slideshow has an ai generated picture on every slide. Literally just so distasteful and disgusting. The google gemini ads are also just terrible. The one where the guy forgets where he got his daughters goldfish??? The one where the guy asks gemini what his kid likes to eat??? Do they think people ae really this dumb??? I think the goal really is to get people this braindead and reliant on ai because then the companies just get to tell people exactly what they should think. Someone bring me my tinfoil..
anyways thanks for reading. Comment what you guys hate about modern things!! I'm not just a complainer but a listener as well.

The microwave beep could be fixed if you have the technical skills. All you need to do is solder a rezistor in series with it's speaker to make it quieter (the rezistor's value will affect how quiet it gets). Also you could remove it completely if you want to completely get rid of the noise. Or just fill the speaker with super glue, same effect. Anyways definitely a good rant. The whole AI thing especially drives me insane.

I can go on and on about how the whimsy of tech was lost, especially in phones and game consoles... (see the Nintendo 3DS vs Switch) But my two least favorite things about modern tech are how it seems to be dumbed down excessively, to the point you don't have to even function to use it (like your microwave without a numpad lol) and how everything is subscription based and/or needs to be connected to the internet. The second one is mostly a grievance with my work lol. We run tests at a lab, but the software for the machine is subscription based (and don't get me wrong, it's great software, but...) the internet went out yesterday and we couldn't do ANYTHING! Couldn't really use the register, couldn't run tests, couldn't even listen to the music since we use a streaming app! I know that makes me sound old, but grr, it makes me mad lol
all of this is so so so true. i have a modded 3ds and a modded dsi and they’re my favorite way to play games. I used to kinda want to mod my switch but nintendo has become so hostile to consumers that i couldn’t even mod it without my mom losing progress in all of her games!! and the subscription everything is sooo annoying recently i’ve been getting most of my music through cds and ripping them onto my ipod because spotify has just become so unusable, especially after they updated their recommendation algorithm it’s just impossible to actually find new music i like on there anymore.
