I like the energy, but this unfortunately isn't realistic for some people. At least with PC builds, it's just not common for modern ones to actually have a disc drive. You can buy them separately, but this alone I think wouldn't cross many people's minds. Moving away from Spotify is very much a need though, they pay their artists like absolutely shit and the CEO is freak.
They could just buy cds, its very common to buy cds at thrift stores and antique stores alike, as well as cd players/radios. Otherwise people that can't afford cd drives/cds itself could just download music
back when i only had an ipad mini i got this crappy mp3 player - i'd usually convert youtube vids to mp3s and have them automatically upload into the app. for downloading/discovering music while supporting artists, i highly recommend bandcamp (available as an ios app as well). as for the mp3 player... some of my pals have suggested vlc player! i will be trying it tonight!
Fortunately, I never used or needed Spotify. Nearly all of the songs I discovered over the past 20 years have been through YouTube and VKontakte. More recently, I discovered new songs just because they'd been overplayed on TikTok.
I agree with the cd part but musicbee is a better music player ngl, the only downside is that it doesnt have the cool ass visualizations (i love that bars pack and i wish that milkdrop (a visualizer program) had it) (atleast it didnt crash my pc)
I started YEARS AGO downloading music and buy cds from small artists, and I know downloading should be illegal, but a local band (Prophilax) admitted that downloading music is ok, as long as you support the artists. And yeah, Spotify is becoming a money-draining snake
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU! Both with cds and dvds (and I guess also books but no way people prefer e books over actual books). My mom still has her cd collection from the 90s and this is like my personal treasure. Of course now that I'm speaking of it I can only remember Queen and Nick Cave, but there are cds from Queen and Nick Cave (idk how popular Nick was tho). I would also just love to buy the dvds of my favourite movies, but nowadays streaming them on Netflix and such is just the cheaper option. I try to borrow dvds from the library as often as I can tho
I totally forgot to mention DVDs. I used to love DVDs and VHS tapes when I was a kid because my mother had a ton of VHS tapes from when she was a child, all the way through to her teenage years. She grew up in the 90s and early 2000s. Additionally, it's worth noting that before Netflix became Netflix, it was a website to rent movies. It was the equivalent of Blockbuster and Redbox if it were online. It's kinda sad that Netflix turned to online streaming, but it was inevitable.
