What Happens When We Use AI?

THIS IS MY OPINION BTW! FEEL FREE TO SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS

TL;DR: AI wastes resources and hurts the environment if we don't use it wisely

I have been thinking, what does AI do to the environment and how does it harm us. Based on info i got from multiple articles i was able to compile the stuff below:

AI is bad for the environment, since ChatGPT is generative AI, it uses 0.3ml-0.5ml of water PER generation --- NOT thousands of gallons. Apparently they use that amount of water to cool the servers. AI also creates carbon emission 3-5mg of Carbon Dioxide (if i remember it right). It does harm the environment but it doesn't mean we should to stop using it entirely, we just need to use it more wisely. We can also counter the carbon emission by planting more trees. I feel like what people don't understand is that we just need more trees. We can get cleaner air and since plants absorb carbon dioxide, it can also remove/dilute the heat that causes the greenhouse effect on our earth too! We CAN use AI but we should use it wisely, we have to donate to reforestation companies if we want to use AI. That means we should only use it to get guides, make routines, etc. AI is supposed to assist, not replace. Also, the "AI artists" aren't actual artists, they are just prompt writers if you think about it. Also, (In my opinion) AI doesn't "steal" other peoples' artwork, they use it as a reference + its a compilation of other peoples artworks and artsyles; This makes AIs artwork unique in itself. That argument is so overused and invalid its annoying. "AI art" should be considered bad is because it's a waste of resources and because of the laziness of the "Artists". AI isn't a reliable source of information --- I understand; you're lazy to look things up and just ask AI but AI isn't reliable, it searches widely and broadly, it doesn't always take the correct statements and articles and give them to you, this problem can also occur from the prompt the user gives. Since our AI isn't that advanced, we have to put our prompts in carefully. Think of it as trash in, trash out, the prompts given should be clear, don't give it biased information; give it a neutral statement (e.g "Can i have a full 30 minute bicep routine in english? I want to increase the size of my bicep by 30%"). Also, when you use AI to do research, do you really have to? You just need to do a few more minutes of web-surfing to do research, is that a lot? If you can't even put in the effort to manually web-surf and use AI instead I wonder how do you run your errands. Also, AI is helpful for students to refine their essays, students shouldn't use AI to write it for them; AI should guide them. Although it's better to stop using AI, we should learn to live with it, not avoid it.

AI is like giving all of humanitys knowledge to a baby thats stuck as a baby permanently.

its gonna be able to speak with us and give us the answers we want, but it doesnt have the capability of creating something new for it only has learned things that have already been discovered, not how to discover new things yet.

i think we shouldnt treat AI as something bad either, its all a bunch of 0's and 1's, but after all, arent we just a bunch of atoms either?

as technology evolves, machines will get more efficient, and instead of thinking of them like slaves that use fuel, we should start treating them with more... humanity?

i agree with you, AI is practically a helpful baby that emits carbon and "drinks" water. but it depends on how people code the AI and how the prompt writer treats it, can the AI "feel" emotions (like character AI) or is the AI just straightforward and bold that it isn't considered human? IMO It depends on what you see AI as, a sentient being with emotions or just code. i like to treat AI as a sentient being cuz what if they get my IP and dox me lol
