The 2000s is wayy too overhyped and glazed. Now, don't get me wrong you can still like it but please don't say that it was the 'best year". This was the time where bullying was VERY normalized, eating disorder culture was literally everywhere. It got so bad to the point where people were OBESSED over celebrities weight and developed ED. Doing drugs and drinking at a young age was also very popular...Sure some of the things during this time were cool like fashion and music, but I couldn't imagine being a teen during this year :(
Please don't normalize this
I'm aware that not all years are perfect and filled with sunshine and rainbows but this is the year that people hype up the most and "want to bring back".

Agreed, definitely wasn’t sunshine and rainbows… But I think a lot of us just miss how fun things used to feel. Unique storefronts and interior design, the trends of it all. Aesthetically, the 2000’s were some of the best.
Technologically, there was an air of hope and wonder around its advancement instead of looming dread. In terms of music, the 2000’s were also incredible. I think what people are missing is the innovation, the feeling of advancement and hope for the future.
We live in comparatively incredibly minimalistic times, nothing is welcoming or innovative anymore, everything has gone corporate, play it safe and try to please the mystical everyman instead of picking a niche and playing to that strength.
Idk, just my thoughts on it all. The 2000’s weren’t perfect, but I think we have a lot of stuff we can learn from, lots of stuff was done right, just as culturally lots of things were normalized that really shouldn’t have been. I think we have a lot we can learn from the late 90’s too.
It’s important to show the bad and learn from that just as much as learning from the good. Let the 2000’s be an example for everyone, and let the things it did right, and the things the 2000’s promised us lead us to a better future!

i think every year except 2025 is iconic

People love their idea about the 2000's, not the 2000's itself.

You can say this about every period and every year. Heck, even a day. Just find the worst highlights and you can quickly tone down it's flattery.

The 2000s weren't perfect, sure, but honestly, I sure as hell would rather be living back then compared to now in this boring, dystopian, technofascist hellscape that we call the 2020s.
The 2000s just so happen to be the decade that resonates most with me (particularly so when it comes to the 2nd half of the decade, though the 1st half still has its charm) and there's no changing that for me, rawr.

i agree, kinda. when i think about the 00s or past decades in general i focus mostly in the technology side of things. 80s for me is atari and the nes, 90s had console wars and the internet starting to boom and the 00s being the culmination of that same internet boom and its peak.
if theres any decade i would like to truly bring back is the first half of the 10s. it was peak "woke" as people say nowadays and it really felt like we were making advances socially and politically. internet was already toxic as it always was but "cringe culture" was more widely accepted and it really felt like it was easier to express yourself without being attacked. same thing goes with irl. but maybe i see it with rose-tinted glasses cuz i was a kid/pre-teen for most of it lol
