Red Dead Redemption is a video game developped by RockStar that got released in 2010 on PS3. In this game, John Marston, who was previously an outlaw in the Van Der Linde gang before it got dissolved, has to find his old comrades and brothers under the orders and pression of the American government to have his family back.

At its release, the game was considered as quite advanced for its time: a large map, a system of honor and reputation that impacts how NPCs interacts with the player, amazing graphics... The game got a very good reputation, and is still considered as a classic for the PS3, or even in gaming in general. And it got only better after the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018, which is considered as probably one of the best video games out at the time.

Personal Opinion:

Playing Red Dead Redemption on my PS3 was an absolute pleasure. Yes, the game is already 15 years old, and yes, RDR2 is wayy more recent... but i still found the game beautiful for its age. And i LOVED John Marston. I find him iconic and badass as the main character (so much that he entered my list of "characters that i want to be", but anyways...). But every character we meet in the story was, in my opinion, interesting (Luisa ily sm).

Apart from the main story, the stranger missions, despite only being a few, were very interesting and quite funny at times, while also taking unexpected turns at time.

But i absolutely loved the game. It was amazing, and it grabbed me in a way that i almost never felt (or that i don't remember, maybe). It became a part of me, something i will probably not forget easily. My englsih vocabulary might me limited, but all that i have to say is that it was amazing. I wish i could play it for the first time again... But i can't.

SPOILERS: Do not read if you don't want to know the end of the game

As probably a lot of people, i got spoiled : i knew that the John's hapiness of findind his family again wouldn't last long. In one of Jack's missions, where he's reading and John asks him what is it about and he answers that it's about a guy avenging his father that got killed, i litteraly had to pause my game. Or when John saves him because he went hunting alone, and on the way back, he said that he would never leave again... My eyes got wet. I also loved the epilogue: after killing Ross and dropping my controller, i felt... Calm. But calm in a heavy way. And for the next few days, despite having finished the game, i always came back to it. I did bounties or other things like that, anything i could do, only to continue playing as Jack, because i think he's wayyyy too much underrated (bro deserves a break tho).

Conclusion

Would i recommend it? If so, for who? : Definetely. I would recommend it for anyone who wants to try a classic PS3 game with a nice story and an amazing and captivating ambiance that you won't find anywhere else. If you want to play it, honestly, i think it's great to play it on a PS3. The game costs quite a lot on more recent platforms (PS4, PC and Switch): yes, this version has qualities and it includes the GOTY edition and Undead Nightmare, but it's still quite pricey... You can easily find the base game on vinted for 3-7 euros (i got mine in a second-hand shop for 10 euros), and i think the GOTY edition (including Undead Nightmare) is for, like 15 euros i think?? Anyways, it's cheaper.

Thanks for reading! It's the first time i post a review and english isn't my first language... I hope it wasn't too bad! Don't hesitate to leave your own opinion in the comments and to give tips! Have a great day ;)
