His Hand Stopped Me - Storytime

I have to the tell you the wild story of how God saved me from being in a major car accident. When I was around 21 years old, I used to work at this well known supermarket in America. After my shift, when driving home I would usually need to wait to make a left at a major intersection, and after making the left, I would follow the main road all the way to my town.

On a particular day, I drove up to the intersection after my shift and the light was red, so I had to wait at the light. But once the light turned green, for some reason I just sat there. Three seconds went by, about six seconds go by, and I'm still sitting there. What's bizarre is while I was sitting there completely frozen, I wondered to myself in a daze, "Why on earth am I not moving when I should be? The light is green. And why isn't the person behind me honking at me? They don't want to move either..."

A couple more seconds go by and all of a sudden, an enormous heavy-duty wrecker truck went flying through the light at such a high speed. You know, those enormous tow trucks designed to handle large vehicles like 18-wheelers, buses, and construction equipment. They're called heavy-duty wreckers. They're not like regular sized tow trucks at all, but absolutely enormous. If you'd like, definitely look up what a heavy duty wrecker looks like, so you can fully understand the type of vehicle and size I am trying to explain to you. See, they are huge! Mind you, my side of the intersection had a green light for a while, while I was just sitting there in a confused daze, but from where the tow truck was coming from, their part of the intersection had a red light for a good moment. It's not like the wrecker was trying to rush and beat a yellow light before it turned red. No, their light had already turned red and was red for a good length of time, a good ten seconds or more. Count like this ... 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, 3 Mississipp and keep going until you hit 6 Mississippi. That's how long the light was already red and the wrecker came and blasted through.

After it passed by, I snapped out of whatever was happening to me and I was in shock. I realized and calculated that if I would have pulled out to make my left turn when the light turned green as I would have instinctively done any other time, then that massive wrecker would have completely destroyed me and my car for sure. The turn was fairly long and wide, and at the speed that the wrecker was going, it would have crashed into the side of me for sure.

The speed limit was 50 on the main road I was waiting turn on to, but the wrecker was going maybe 65 miles per hour or more. Shoot, maybe even 70. And at the time, I drove a very old and fragile 1998 Toyota Corolla. It was as if God put His hand in front of me to make sure I wouldn't drive my car forward. I know it was supernatural, because remember I told you that I even questioned myself for being frozen. I questioned my own actions for sitting there so awkwardly so long and then suddenly regained control back once the wrecker passed. This is how I know it wasn't me or by chance.

I just thank God that He kept me safe that day for real. It would have been really bad for me.  The speed and impact would have been a devastating end for sure. Thank you, God. Thank you, God. Thank you, God!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope my blog post entertained you. I'm hoping you'll drop by and visit my blog to read another story time in the future. God bless you! Jesus loves you! And I do too!
