Hello everyone!
I've recently been really bothered by how people misinterpret feminism. That's why I decided to clear things up a bit. I hope you learn something from this blog post. :)
This matter reflects throughout my everyday life. Women claiming they aren't feminists even though they do everything for equality. Like this really confuses me. If you believe women are equal to men you ARE a feminist. But that's this misconception of this word. No, even though the word feminism contains feminine doesn't mean that feminists want that women are more worth than men. I think it's funny how the opposite of that is what men did to women most of history. And here comes the part of why feminism is important. Throughout most of history, public life was a privilege reserved for men. Women weren't allowed to own property, to vote, to get eduation, ...Β Yeah, we made progress, but that doesn't mean that the world is a fully equal society yet. Look at the still existing gender pay gap, for example.
Sooo, what causes this common misconception? I bet that almost every man that does not know anything about feminism thinks about a feminist as a woman who hates men. But this is not the case. Feminism is about equality. That's what most people don't understand. If you are a feminist who hates on men and who thinks that woman are superior to men then your are not a real feminist. I mean, I understand that there are indeed men that do shit things, but that doesn't give us the right to hate onΒ everyΒ man on earth. If you understand what I mean. And this comes from a lesbian myself.
Another concern I want to talk about in this post is the exclusion of GNC people in feminism. Trans people are valid and should always be included in this equality. Real feminism does NOT exclude trans women nor anyone who isn't cisgender. I experienced feeling left out, especially when speaking about feminism, and I don't want that to happen to anyone else.
Sooo, this was the post. I hope you had fun reading!! Let me know your thoughts below.

I can see where the mentality of "I HATE MEN" comes from. I've met some woman that were mistreated, lost oportunities to physically or se****ly abu*** by men. And it totally makes sense that they have some kind of resent or trauma with them. Using logic like "oh sure, but not ALL men are like this" doesn't work on them because they live in a reality where most men arround them (even their dads) are assholes. Im not defending this, I'm just considering it curious because that mentality doesnt come from crazy people that just hate men. Most of the time it's a matter of perspective from an oppressed minority.
Yeah, I totally understand what you mean. I did not write this post to justify men that do shitty things. That's not what I wanted to say. Thanks for the feedback. I fully agree with your statement.

Exactly. sexism is literally the exact same when its against men.
Yes, sexism against men is less common, but it's still sexism.
