Random Blog #16

With all these back-to-school commercials and everything, I suddenly thought about a classmate from highschool. A bit of context, I was (and still am) very quiet and introverted during all my high school years.

It was in the first day of sophomore year and during chemistry. We've never talked beforehand but I wish we did sooner because he was the most sweetest and kindest person I've ever met. He was all punk and head shaven, but the way he talked didn't make him intimidating at all. It was an instant click and memorable day.

He always asked how I was and said hello in the hallways. Complimenting me even when I was wearing the same sweater. I didn't have friends and had very few acquaintances but I wish I was brave enough to ask him if we could be friends.

There was even a time I taught him to braid and he was so happy because he always wanted to do his mom's hair. It was hard not to like someone so genuine and amazing and eventually, I had a crush on him.

Sadly, he went blind by the end of Senior year and had a cane too. The last time I interacted with him was before graduation. I took his arm and carefully helped him to a room where we were supposed to sign something and I only just said, "Take care".

I do think of him often when I see a ribbon or a leather jacket. There's many classmates I think of, but he stands out a lot and I hope he's happy and safe now💛🌱
