I watched War of the Worlds(2025) last night...

It's... a bad movie. I don't know what to say. I think, for me personally, Ice Cube's acting was the worst part. It's cringe, to put it simply, and not even in a fun way. It feels like he's acting. Ex: When I look at the actress playing his daughter, I don't feel like I'm watching someone trying to portray a scared, pregnant woman. I look at her and see her character. All I see is a woman whom I come to care about being scared and getting hurt. With Ice Cube, there's no emotional depth. There's a moment in the movie that, if it were in any other movie, I would have felt more for. Ice Cube's character is a widower who annually looks at his late wife's Facebook page. The last message she sends him is a voice message telling him to take out the trash and pick up their kids from school ending with "I love you". Once a year, it's been four, he types I miss you in her DM. Later on in the film, the entire Internet is hacked, and all the data is being stolen. He gets an alert, that the Facebook page photos are being deleted. He immediately goes there to check, and in real time, we see the photos being deleted, and he plays her last message twice. The second time, it distorts before the chat log, and the whole page goes. He tried to refresh, but nothing. I feel more for this scene from me typing it out than I did when watching it, that's so sad. His reaction to all this is almost comical. I actually laughed at another scene where his son supposedly dies and I just could not keep it together. His reaction was hilarious to me. He isn't dead though. Everybody else's acting was like so much better than Ice Cube's. They actually felt like character's in a movie. 

I spent so much of this movie trying to give it a fair chance but I just couldn't help but go, "This shit is so ass." Don't even get me started on the format of this movie. It sucks. Maybe, it could have worked if we didn't have Ice Cube as mc. That's a big maybe. I just couldn't help but think, "Who is this movie made for?" Though I do have to say that I liked the sound design of the aliens. I absolutely love the blaring horn sounds they make. The aliens are honestly the best part of the film, well that and Mark. I really mark, he funny little guy.
