I am from forests and lakes

from beaches and roadside bakeries

I am from the white house with the big garden, filled with deer and flowers

I’m from spruce trees and hockey rinks

From lupins and ospreys

I’m from endless highways and family barbeques,

From sunny meadows and frozen rivers,

From fireworks in july and pumpkin picking in the fall

From crisp, dry autumns and warm, sweaty summers

Where we bike down dirt roads and play basketball with friends

Where the stars twinkle at night and the sunset paints the sky pink

I am from Nova Scotia, where bears roam the forests and crickets chirp at dusk.
