Sup! Here's the second episode of the Spider-Man of Antalya!
Chapter 1 Episode 2: Skater-Spider into the Spider-Verse
“Wait, party? You mean there are other Spider-People too?!”
Even though I knew that parallel universes could be real, this situation surprised me very much. I mean, right now, there is a Spider-Woman, inviting me to somewhere that has other Spider-People! Wow…
“Yep! And we call ourselves ‘Spider-Society’. Now, dress up because soon, I am going to take you to a place that has Spider-People everywhere!” And adds, “By the way, I am Omnia, but everyone including myself, of course, ‘Tarantula’.”
Still surprised, I take out my costume from under my bed.
“Uhhhh, I am Kayra…” And as I started to dress, I looked at Omnia. “Could you please look away? I've never worn the costume over my clothes because I know I'd get fried if I did! Because it's usually hot where I live in the summer.”
“Oh, if that's the case…” And Omnia turns around, closes her eyes.
I dress up quickly and I grab my skates. “Okay, I am ready.”
Omnia looks at me and then at my rollerblades. “Great, but I don't think you'll be needing those rollerblades.”
“Oh, they are actually part of my costume and I can't wear these indoors. And because of these rollerblades, they call me ‘Skater-Spider’.”
Omnia shrugs “Your choice, Skater.” And turns to the portal. “Anyway, follow me!” Then goes into the portal. I followed her without hesitation.
And when I arrived there… This place was HUGE!! And there were Spider-People, Animals, and even Objects everywhere! I am not kidding, I swear I even saw a swinging Spider-Buggy! While I was looking around with admiration and I was astounded, Omnia shouted at me.
“Hey! I need to introduce you to someone! Follow me.”
Breaking free from the magic of the place, I put on my skates and began following Omnia. After passing through a series of strange places, we arrive at a somewhat dark place that looks like a control room. There, a huge figure was waiting for us, his back facing us. I can't say I wasn't really startled, he was a really imposing guy and I could feel his threatening aura. And then, he turns to us.
“Kayra Gümüş. Earth-12187 You are a truly interesting one.” While he's saying these things, I'm even more scared of what he knows about me. “There were already Spider-People in your universe. Yet, you became the real Spider-Man among them. You're not an anomaly. Anyway, welcome. You can leave now.”
He was looking quite serious while he was speaking, and finally being able to leave relieved me. And I think Omnia noticed my nervousness, because she laughed a little.
“Don’t be nervous, Miguel is like this with every newcomer. In fact, he is always like this. Anyway, if you want, I can introduce you to some of my friends.”
I smile upon Omnia’s request. “Actually, that would be great. Because I am not that great at socializing.”
“Haha! Then you should improve your social skills because you’ll need them! We don't call ourselves the Spider-Society for nothing!” Then she speaks to a device that is on her wrist. “Hey, Fabian! I have a new, not-the-great-at-socializing spider that I want to introduce to you! Let’s meet at the cafeteria.”
While we are heading to the cafeteria, Omnia tosses something without looking back. “Oh, by the way, I need to give you this.” That thing suddenly materializes in my hand and appears to be some sort of electronic watch. “That’s a ‘Multiversal Gizmo’. Now, while I wasn’t around, you can still come here or travel to the other spider-verses. And also, you can call other Spider-People with that.”
I was wonderstruck (I googled that word :D) by that “Multiversal Gizme” in my hand. I listen to Omnia and continue to follow her.
At the cafeteria, we are greeted by a Spider-Man who is wearing a jacket. As we sit down, Omnia introduces me to Fabian. “Fabian, this is the newbie spider Kayra. Newbie spider Kayra, this is Fabian.”
“Uhm, uhhhh, nice to meet you, Fabian.”
“You too, Kayra. And you have an interesting style. And... Wait, are those pool goggles?”
Omnia then looks at me, especially at my eyes, after Fabian asks that, and chuckles. “Oh wow. I just noticed too!” She pokes at my pool goggles. “Those are seriously pool goggles!"
I felt uncomfortable by the attention, but I also liked it. But I still tried to change the subject. “But I needed to hide my eyes! Anyway, Fabian, how did you meet Omnia? Did she catch you off guard in the middle of your room just like me?”
Meanwhile, Fabian and Omnia look at me a little curiously when I call Omnia "she." Then Omnia speaks up. “She? Dude, I use They/Them pronouns!”
I facepalm while I feel ashamed of the mistake I made.
“Argh! Sorry! I should have asked you in the first place!”
“Haha, no worries, bud. Everybody makes mistakes. And I attribute this mistake to your rookieness.”
After this little confusion incident, we talked a little more. And then, it hits me. How do all the Spider-People here have these cool-looking costumes while I have a second-hand-material-made costume?
“Hey, Omnia. How did you get your costume? I mean, my costume looks like everyday clothes next to yours! Which, to be honest, I made it by collecting second-hand everyday clothes. Never mind, tell me your secret!”
Omnia laughs a little at my eagerness. Then, they think.
“Well, to be honest, I got my costume after I came here. So, I had my regular clothes on me when I came here first time!”
After Omnia’s answer, I got an idea, and my enthusiasm grew even more.
“Wait, so does that mean I can make myself a more advanced costume here? Can my new costume be like a fox?!”
“Uhm, I mean, this could be possible. Folks here can help you with designing and making your new costume.”
Fabian thinks a little.
“I think there are people who would be willing to help Kayra in this regard. Omnia will help you find them.”
Hearing these from them makes me feel excited even more. Now, I have to study, see and analyze other Spider-People's costumes. Because I need to add what is possible and what is not.
“Okay then! Now let’s see, examine, and ask folks’ costumes first! Because I want to know which things are possible and easy, and which things are hard or nearly impossible to make!”
