o hai, its me, that weirdo who did two political things bc the online safety act pissed 'em off. I'm finally NOT talking about the online safety act! Swag! (or pog :3)
Anyways, my blog thing today is just about individuality and community... and also I'm lying it's not but I dunno how to describe it so maybe I'm not lying?? Idk but hey let's get going!
I was born in 2004, a year after Postal 2 came out, a year before Pathologic 1 and literally two months before youtube. I grew up with the early internet since, y'know, 2004 baby, and I always thought it couldn't get better than it was. To be honest? I was half right. The internet improved more with more to explore and use which was great, but it also sort of sucked for me.
Growing up as an undiagnosed autistic kid who was bullied out of his school (which isn't new, unfortunately) I always wanted to be a youtuber. Like, I'd film gameplay videos on my 3ds while it was balanced on a miniature tower of books, and I even developed maladaptive daydreaming really early on in my life because I would pretend to record videos, but I'd never upload anything. Now? Youtube just turned into a popularity contest.
"Hey," you might say, "but youtubes always been a popularity contest." And you're right, technically, youtube has always been a popularity contest. But people were able to be unique back then. They didn't need perfect lighting and editing skills. Now everything sorta just feels like the same factory published stuff, at least to me.
I'll admit, I have a major nostalgia bias. Not even nostalgia but anemoia. I was around for the late 2000s and early 2010s, obviously, but I don't really remember enough of it to say I really lived through it (I mean, I did, obvs, but you know what I mean-) so I can confess it's mostly that bias talking, but it's just how I feel. Hell, I never watch Criminal Minds past season eight, I just always go back to the beginning and watch those first seasons again, because I fucking love the early seasons. And when did they come out? The first episode aired literally a year after I was born. I love the old aesthetics of the early 2000s/2010s. Sometimes I hate that I missed out on it too (aside from, y'know, the homophobia, transphobia, ableism and all that negative shit that isn't as mainstream as it is now) which sucks.
Aside from all that, I need to get a new SD card for my kodak camera, and I'm still on the hunt for a PSVita (plus I'm still looking for my 2ds)
If you stuck around for this long, thank you!! Maybe drop a kudos or a comment :3
Bye-leen from Eileen!!!

You're so lucky you got to live through the early internet, even if you don't remember most of it. I really wish I could've been alive in the 2000's, because you're right. Youtube (and the rest of the internet) really feels all the same. That's why I like SpaceHey so much.
