hii everyone! i've recently gotten a couple of my guy friends flirting w/me. unfortunately, applications are CLOSED (i don't like any of them </3). but i kinda feel bad about it, because i want to date someone (hypothetically...) just not those guys.
they're all really nice people (kind, accepting of others, and not maga, which is a miracle where i live) and confessed/flirted w me in nice ways (not just an evil instagram dm yk), but i'm just not attracted to them for whatever reason. i end up friendzoning/rejecting them, (there's been about 3 recently?) and it ends after that.
the thing is, i'm coming up on my senior year (im old ik) of highschool and haven't really had that teenage relationship experience. i'd at least like to make an effort (i will proceed to not make any effort) and try.
the issue is, whenever a guy approaches me i get like icked out by the dumbest things, scared, and go "ew !!! ew ew ew" in my head, no matter how nice/genuine he is. the only couple crushes i've had are unreciprocated (it's chill tho lowk).
it's not like i'm a perfect 10/10, so why can't i try and reciprocate whenever someone else likes me? i should be taking the opportunity, but i just can't. if i wait forever for someone i like to like me back, it'll probably never happen cs i always pick the most out of my league people for some reason (or like terrible manipulators).
should i lower my standards ?? probably not, but that seems like the only thing that would help my situation </3 besides waiting till college, where i'm more likely to find people similar to me.
"but gabby, why don't you try dating a girl?" i would if i could!! there's like 3 wlw total in my area, i literally can't find them anywhere </3 dressing basic/straight passing doesnt help me much either. however trust i will be looking for them this upcoming school year...

You should never feel obligated to reciprocate another individual's feelings. It is completely reasonable as to why you aren't in a relationship and there is most definitely no shame in it. I personally don't believe in the term ick's as everyone is different in their own way and nobody is perfect. Although, warnings in which clearly state that they are a VERY bad person overall are definitely to not be ignored. Just be patient, there will be the right person for you where you'll TRULY become head over heels for in a matter of time and be in a relationship with.
sighh you're completely right. i'll go back to my plan of waiting for the right person eventually, probably when i leave for college. thanks for the advice!!

i totally understanding wanting to be in a relationship!!! but tbh, any relationship that you get into just for the sake of it won't turn out well. it can suck to be single but it's best to wait for somebody you really like
i never dated in high school bc there are like 4 wlw at my school, but now i'm going to university and like half the student population is wlw so. dating def gets easier after high school!!

tbh its not worth your time to worry about having a highschool relationship. if you date a guy you dont really like, the whole relationship would be one sided and thats not fair to either of you!! plus you cant really control who you like and its not fair to pretend to like a guy just cause you feel bad for him. also you could date a guy and he could actually be Secretly Evil (and most highschool dudes are) save yourself!!!

I feel ya, finished Highschool like two months ago without ever getting the "teenage relationship experience"™; and like yeah it kinda sucks feeling like I missed out, but what can you do really. If your not interested in going out with somone, or just see them as a friend, ya shouldn't date em just cause you got fomo about highschool relationships.
