It just stopped charging. But I did ask my dad for a 3DS on my birthday, though I think he’s just going to buy a new charger because he thinks that my charger is broken when it isn’t

You might have to swap the battery. In fact, a battery replacement is arguably one of the easiest things to replace in a DSi/3DS! Here's an iFixIt guide, but it's just taking off the back panel, placing in the new battery, and screwing the panel on again. I say DIY it, and even if you still want a 3DS, maybe you can fix your DSi and sell it to make money for the 3DS.
