Hello everyone!
I was cleaning out my room this morning and saw a copy of Killing Stalking (the last volume). I decided to read it for a while and remembered the time when Killing Stalking was well known, but for its wrong reasons.
For those who aren't aware, Killing Stalking is a manhwa created by Koogi. The main character, Yoonbum, stalks an unknown killer, Sangwoo and decides to kidnap Yoonbum and entrap him in his home.
I feel like this manhwa is regarded a strong discussion of what the public and especially a young audience can consider romance or obsession. I never found Killing Stalking to be a romance, ever. It did, however, play its part in creating the illusion to Yoonbum and some of the audience to make it seem as if it was a romance. Having it cornered to be a horror BL waters down and doesn't do any justice to how complex this story is. Its overall complexity is what makes this manhwa controversial.
The main problem that came from this story is the younger audience as they were the unintentionally the main demographic for this manhwa. The audience are what molded Killing Stalking to be a BL and practically shoved it down people's throats and not to mention Koogi never spoke out on this. Koogi has said that Killing Stalking is not a BL but that didn't stop the audience from making it seem that. I do believe that for the sake of the reputation that it held being a BL, Koogi never went out of their way to speak up on it anymore which either held both good and bad reputation.
That's all I really wanted to talk about. If anyone wants to talk about it more, I am glad to hear other people's opinion out. I have a meeting in 3 minutes, bye bye.
In best regards,
♡shun
