i think this is true that spacehey can feel pretty lifeless somtimes because no one really talks to eachother.. there might be a reply on ur blog or forum and a friend request here or there but i feel like few people actually TALK to eachother. and then people complain that spacehey is dead but they dont reach out to others or even try to make connections? obv this probably isnt true for all but i feel like this is probably a reason why it can feel so empty here... especially since short form content is so popular (tiktok, shorts, ect) where the main form of connections made from that type of social media is just comments or a like and rarely ever a further form of connection gained from it because there's ALWAYS more content and things to give commentary on and when faced with a form of social media that isnt that i think people arnt used to it.. and people generally dont try to further or start conversations about topics related to posts or anything like that because most short form content replies are just reactionary and not actual commentary which i feel also leads more to a group mentality on a reaction and response rather than people sharing nuances and their own interpretation especially so when you can just like the comment and that is ur show of agreeing with the popular opinion instead of having to give ur own commentary which i think also is why most further commentary beyond just reactions is hatefull becuase people aren't used to people having to accept nuances or opinions and are unsettled when it goes against the norm (eg the norm would be agreeing by liking even if u have a slightly differing opinion, and commenting ur own slightly different take is seen as odd and standoffish because its not what ur "supposed" to do so it's seen as you must be telling them that theyre wrong and ur "unpopular opinion " is right instead of it being seen as a way to open up dialog and share ideas "

I painfully disagree and even if what I say cant convince you of anything, I had to escape instagram and youtube because of not only soulless corpo jumbo but lack of connections as well. This place does NOT feel like that to me. Sure not a lot of people are actively doing stuff with yall but I have had the pleasure of just... talking to people. So please dont take this as disrespect, im only being brutally honest in my own perspective, but this post pissed me off since social media is growing censorship by the day and using this place not only helps me cope but i find it more refreshing as well to have discussions or something. Again sorry if this sounds as an attack (i know i shouldnt apologize for expressing myself) but many people here are incredibly nice and chatting :) and i dont want to have this negative mentality travel to a website trying to not have that revolved around it.

i think we’ve jus gotten used 2 being consumers of content, like normal ppl barely post on instagram or other socials it’s always if u have a career in mind or smth, so i guess that mindset jus applies here as well since we’re just used 2 using the internet this way

this is so trueee. i just started thinking like... spacehey isn't the only place that's "lifeless". insta and tiktok are too. where's the life in that? people send each other reels for hours on end but they're not having any meaningful connections. i don't know anyone who uses social media to ... actually be social. i think a lot of people don't enjoy it here because it's not quick enough for them. because they can't form meaningless attachments in seconds. like !! if ur just patient you're going to find people who enjoy what you do and go from there. it's like making friends in real life. very rarely is it instantaneous.

Fr. I think it would be better if SpaceHey added chatrooms so it can feel more connected and it would always be active since its pretty diverse here location wise. Although it would also most likely crash as much as the site does without it...

A way I’ve started interacting with more people on here is by clicking the ‘recent blogs’ button on the blogs tag (which is funnily enough how I found this post) and finding new people!! I completely agree with this most btw 🫶🏻

(as you can probably see) i joined a day ago and it genuinely *feels* lifeless. not even just seems it but it actually feels dead, and i’ve been friending people and i message them but i’ve been very focused on my space’s appearance and content that i havent yet
but i completely agree short form content kinda ruins socialising?? like its genuinely hard for people these days to physically have a good long conversation with eachother and i think that’s so crazy right?? but u put it into words perfectly and i completely agree. 🫶🫶

ur so right! its always content content content but people on those social medias are just showing good sides of their lives and nobody really tries to make connections with people with same interest. i mean there are some people whose doing that but yk what i mean. But instead of making blog posts like 'add me' or 'why is here dead' i think people really should share opinions about their interest. This website has potential with expressing yourself because on other platforms you are very limited in customization and originality. anyways sorry if my english is wrong its not my first language!
literally!! i agree with that, people are so used to the only opinions they express in regards to content being if they like or dislike it or showing support to someone elses that they forget that connection is supposed to be two ways, you're supposed to have ur own opinions! i also feel like the add me posts support this idea of trying to make a site like heyspace (which mainly thrives off of people making actual connections) into somthing more like other social media platforms that are mostly just a numbers games or an agree or disagree

RIGHT? i think its because that every other social media is focused on numbers and popularity instead of being yourself. I mean you can be yourself and not everyone should be popular right? Its always following or doing what's popular like herd of sheep's!
