Reasons? BORING!
Track 1: Cyotee
★★★★★
- The overlapping speaking/howling/shouting gives an energy of chaos
-Very theatrical
- Big fan of the guitar
Favorite Line/Moment
"Flash of red, You're dead!"
Track 2: Land Ho!
★★★⯪☆
- The harmonies are a nice touch
- The instrumental bridge is very soothing, and the moment they upped the tempo and added more instruments was a respectable move
- Whatever main character the singer is depicting is clearly a little crazy
Favorite Line/Moment
The Bridge as a Whole
Track 3: The Ratcatcher of Hamelin
★★★☆☆
- Hearing much more of the female singer
- Laidback intro, tempo picks up about a minute in
- Very much a folk vibe
Favorite Line/Moment
About 3 minutes in when the tempo picks up and the singer begins a harmony with the male singer
Track 4: Galactic Seahorse
★⯪☆☆☆
- Overall, the song is quite laidback, especially compared to the last three tracks
- A little boring to be honest
- Not the biggest fan of the twinkly sound in the background
Favorite Line/Moment
no particular moment stood out to be honest.
Track 5: Hobo Wicked Fix
★★★★☆
- bringing back the theatrical energy the first track had
- tones of agony
- The bridge has a more laidback energy compared to the rest of the song
Favorite Line/Moment
3:40, the crescendo the instrumentals
Track 6: La Casserole
★★★☆☆
- French styled
- Completely Instrumental
-Suddenly shit is breaking (1:02), lowk scared me
-Quite whimsical
Favorite Line/Moment
The Intro
Track 7: Ooh La La
★★★★⯪
- Fun, theatrical
- Energy shifts about 1:20
- Romantic
- LOVE the guitar
Favorite Line/Moment
The First Minute
Track 8 Pitter Patter
★★★☆☆
- Eerie energy
- A duet, most likely the two lovers from the previous number
- Often refers to hearing "them"???
Favorite Line/Moment
"I hear them no more."
Track 9: Sand Cyborg
★★★☆☆
- IMMEDIATELY has more energy
- Holy fuck it's 7:24 long O_O
-Despite the upbeat intro, the rest of the song is themed around feeling trapped/restricted, often says "Free me"
- The instrumentals are beautiful throughout
- I love the crescendo moments
- Though I may tend to lean toward the more upbeat/dramatic songs, this I really enjoyed (Despite being SEVEN AND A HALF FUCKING MINUTES, WHAT!)
Favorite Line/Moment
first 10 seconds, about 2:45 when the tempo picks up
Track 10: Hymn 15: Ax & Shovel
★★⯪☆☆
- Lowk boring
-Not really a fan of the vibe
-Takes too long to get good, but when it does makes up for it
Favorite Line/Moment
"They'll find you"
"FIRE FIRE FIRE!"
Track 11: Stick City
★⯪☆☆☆
- Boringgg
- Much more of the female singer
-The twinkling noise in the background gives it lullaby vibes
- Feels like a song for a forgotton kids tv show
- An accordian comes out of nowhere close to the end giving it almost a circusy vibe (which I usually like, just in this case it only lasts liek 10 seconds and is still boring T_T)
Favorite Line/Moment
Nothing stood out to me
Track 12: Yeti Vs. Poseidon
★★★☆☆
- More of the female singer!! (we don't hear her a whole lot, especially in the later abums)
- Sea shanty energy
- Overall not bad
Favorite Line/Moment
When the energy came back about 3:00 minutes in
Track 13: Freight Train Whale Wars: Part I
★★★☆☆
- Feels like an unreleased song from the movie Tangled right off the bat
- Completely instrumental, yet quite enjoyable nevertheless
- Goes quiet and repeats the same melody over and over for a bit in the middle of the song for some reason
Favorite Line/Moment
About 1:15 in when the energy comes back
Track 14 (Final): More?
★★⯪☆☆
- I can't decide if it's folk or hillbilly if that makes sense??
- Okay, but nothing too special
- It's trying to bring the energy of the other songs back, but it just isn't working
Favorite Line/Moment
The intro was nice
**I LOVE Fable Cry, but I'm not gonna sugarcoat anything -- if a song is ass, IT'S ASS, I'm not gonna lie to you. (Though I really enjoyed listening to this album)**
This band (especially this album) is WAY too underrated, especially among those who enjoy the more theatrical and dramatic varieties of music.
Even though my opinion may seem a bit harsh on some tracks, I actually really liked this album and ordered a compact disc lol
I really loved the emotions displayed through the vocals, and even the energy of the instrumentals. As a trained singer, I really appreciate the passion and dramatics put into each word; Something I stand by is that while it CERTAINLY is something to strive for and is preferred, (and this band definitely delivered), a song doesn't JUST have to be vocally impressive to immerse the audience and make them connect with your character......ᶜᵒᵘᵍʰ ᶜᵒᵘᵍʰ...ᵇⁱˡˡʸ ᵖᵒʳᵗᵉʳ ᵃˢ ᵉᵐᶜᵉᵉ ⁱⁿ ᶜᵃᵇᵃʳᵉᵗ... WHO SAID THATT??
Final Rating: ★★★★☆ , This band needs to just write a musical already.
