Hey everyone!
Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. I really appreciate it.
While scrolling through this site, I noticed there's a lot of confusion and misinformation about what Satanism actually is. So, I wanted to clear up a few common misconceptions.
First off:
Satanism isn't a theistic religion in most forms. That means it doesn’t involve the worship of a literal Satan or any central deity. Instead, it's about personal freedom, self-empowerment, and living authentically. It encourages people to take control of their own lives and bodies, while also respecting others' right to do the same.
To put it simply:
"Be who you want to be, and let others do the same."
So why is Satanism so often misunderstood?
Much of the misunderstanding comes from centuries of religious fear, propaganda, and media sensationalism. In many cultures, especially those influenced by conservative or traditional religious values, "Satan" is automatically associated with evil, corruption, or danger. Because of this, anything labeled "Satanic" tends to be met with fear or hostility without people actually looking into what it really means. Movies, news stories, and urban legends have all contributed to this, often portraying Satanists as dangerous or immoral, which just isn't accurate for most who identify with modern Satanism.
Technically, there are other forms of Satanism which also causes some issues, but the other forms are not as commonly practiced.
If you meet someone and they say they are a satanist, don't immediately judge them! Ask them what their interpretation of it is. Commonly, they will explain something similar to what I have stated!
People also tend to confuse Satanism with demonolatry, which is the worship of demons as spiritual beings or deities. That's a completely separate belief system, and like Satanism, it’s often misrepresented too.
Hope this helps clear a few things up! I hope you all have a wonderful day

I got a few questions for ya..
So, why is it called Satanism if there is no actual correlation with Satan?
Why do satanists (Even atheistic satanists) say "Hail Satan" and "Satan loves you" If they truly don't believe in him? I've heard that Hail Satan supposedly means "be yourself?" Why not just say that then? Sometimes I also hear it's to weird out the christians, but why..? Is that really the only reason for that?
The bible often describes satan as a goat which I've noticed that a goat (baphomet) is the symbol that's used for satanism. If there really is no correlation to christianity then why is this the case? Was it just some kind of coincidence or smth? It could be defended as some type of rebellion against christianity, but that would still indicate that it's related in some way.
Also theistic satanism is real. I don't really understand why as an atheist, you'd call yourself a satanist when you're not spiritual in any kinda way if that makes sense. You follow the 10 satanic rules? Cool, a lot of people follow the 10 commandments without being christian and they just call themselves atheist, not an atheistic christian.
I hope this didn't come off as mean. I'm actually interested in satanism and doing my own research on it!! Currently wearing a baphomet shirt wit sum other dark sht on in my decorated room that would make.. most christians worry abt me:P
Thank you for asking these questions because I LOVE infodumping.
First off, the name Satanism is actually more symbolic because Satan was often depicted as pushing against authority.
Next, saying "Hail Satan" or "Satan loves you" is normally in response to "Jesus loves you" (Which to people who are not Christian it typically feels like passing a boundary) It helps people rethink what they are saying to you.
Moving onto the Baphomet topic, I'm pretty sure he wasn't originally satanic, but the character was adopted and worshipped as a deity among the theistic satanists. I believe they did that because Baphomet symbolizes balance, like man/woman and light/dark. Kind of like a yin and yang thing. (Not to mention the goat going against Christianity adds points)
Also people who are satanists but are non theistic still call themselves Satanists because religion is about living life from a set of rules. Like that's typically why people go into religion. To find purpose and to be guided by something. So of course they call themselves Satanists and not Athiests! They live by Satanism's rules.
You weren't being rude at all, so dont worry! I absolutely adore answering questions. Also I'm sorry I couldn't give you more info on theistic satanism, I haven't read much up on it. I hope this answers your questions well, though!
