Rob Zombie's movies

What do you think of his movies ?

I personnaly love House of a 1000 CorpsesDevil's Rejects and his first Halloween, and I'm gonna talk about them so beware of spoilers. And of course I'd love to discuss them with people (as well as other movies).

For House of a 1000 Corpses, I think it is a really good shorror movie with twists and good visuals. At the end we are able to see the hidden interior of the house, with many skeletons and bones and a sort of unergroud labyrinth. I really love this whole part and I liked the movie overall because it has a great dynamic.

Now Devil's Rejects is I think my favourite Rob Zombie's movie. I love the dynamic between the "bad" characters and the "good" one. What I'm talking about here is how he managed to turn the evil killing characters from the first movie into characters we could in a way feel bad for (especially during the torture/questionning part) and the "good" policeman into, in a way, one of them. There are some scenes where you see them interacting with each others as a family, suffering from his torture, and him as a heartless executionner. I really love the way he turned things around and how he was able to make us feel those things (to a certain extent).

As for his version of Halloween, I've seen some criticism which I kind of agree with and I wanted your opinion :

I kind of agree with it for a simple reason : in the original by Carpenter, Michael Myers is portrayed as pure evil, evil itself. But in Rob Zombie's version, he kind of explain the way Michael Myers is, by showing of a horrible and dysfunctional family, labeled by many as "white trash" (which I wouldn't have said like that but I understand the choice of words). And in a way I understand why some people criticise his movie because it transforms Michael from the evil to an evil man, by giving a motive to his murders, while he originally didn't have any, which really reinforced the "evil being/practically non-human" concept. But I still think Rob Zombie managed to keep the non-human Michael Myers.

I still really love the movie in its globality, and I'd love to discuss it with people and have your opinions !

As for Lords of Salem, I only liked the music (which is really sick) lol !
